3 shots of Mr. Cardinal... 1) Nice pose, 2) "That's enough posing for one day," and 3) "Okay, I'll let you do one more."
Really nice shots! Of course, that's coming from a Baltimore Orioles fan.
Good biblical scholarship affirms that the Gospel of Mark ends at chapter 16, verse 8. The following verses, which mention snakes, form a later addition written to "smooth out" the abrupt ending. Either the author of the gospel intended to end it that way, or the real ending was lost. The entire practice of snake-handling, therefore, is based on a "passage" that is not found in the oldest manuscripts, and therefore is not valid. The King James includes it, but in 1611 many of the manuscripts had not yet been discovered.

Anyone using the Olympus OM-D EM-1? I just got one in December and it's a fabulous camera but I see little if any discussions related to Olympus. I use a Nikon D300 for 6 years and a D70 prior to that and from the looks of this camera and it's amazing size, image quality and features, there's no turning back for me. Any opinions?
Actually for its share of the market, I think m4/3 gets a fairly good amount of discussion on this forum. If you really want a lot of insight and help, there are a couple of dedicated forums available.

There's a D700 for sale in today's classified section.

I will visit Victoria Falls in early February. Have any readers been there? What activities do you recommend and sights to photograph?
The Zambezi at sunset. Magical.
If you could manage the Oly OMD E-M1 you could use your current Oly
lenses.

In addition to their great service one thing that keeps me a loyal B&H customer is the fact that they observe their Sabbath by closing from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
In an era where nothing seems to be off limits for retailers to rake in the bucks this observance of their principles is to be highly regarded. My opinion of course.
Agreed. I recall a UHHer who complained about their not being available to him on the Sabbath, and he got grilled by the respondents.
Whatever camera is chosen, recommend to him that he not purchase it the day before he leaves. He needs to give himself some time to acquaint himself with it.
A listing and prices would help.

I have a friend who mostly shoots with the Panasonic GX1 now. He does documentary work and has shot for National Geographic in the past. I'll be seeing him this week and will ask for recommendations. I've been considering a mirrorless myself. Nice shot.
Hey Goofie, you've been talking about this a long time. When are you finally going to pull the trigger? :-)
Welcome to UHH.
May I suggest you consider the micro 4/3 mirrorless system, specifically the Olympus OMD E-M5. Olympus has just come out with the E-M1, which will drive down the price of the E-M5. It's a great camera and small enough to take with you anywhere. I take pictures of my grands with it!
