I am sometimes asked, "what is your favorite bird to photograph in South Florida?". I would probably say it's the Snowy Egret, especially when it's in breeding colors. That Bright Red Lore in front of the eye, skirt, and if you get it right, reddish feet.
Here he is at Peaceful Waters in Wellington Florida, a popular spot for them when the water level is ideal for their hunting habits, they can be found in numbers here. Especially fun when the wind whips up that breeding skirt.
Sony a1, Sony 600 f4 @f4, 1/1500 sec. iso 1250. Manual exposure based on a green grass reading and then stopping down 1.5-2.0 stops.

Spent the last week prepping for the annual air show... this is the first year I actually attended the thing so watched a few Youtube videos for hints re: aircraft photography... discovered I need to work on my panning and that for prop planes, 1/125 should get a full "prop circle" which looks nice. Several of the prop planes last weekend had "were props"... that is, the props can't be photographed at 1/125; they disappear. And, yeah, I'm not too proud to use an occasional free cloud download to rug over a bald or sparse background.
These were all shot with a 70-200 f/2.8. The first two days I used a 200-500 and appreciated the reach, but most images were a tad soft due to my poor panning at that focal length, and 30mph winds beating on my back. I'll work on those images when there's time...
