I can open the Select and Mask window but cannot get any of the tools to work on the image.View mode and transparency work Ok but not the selection tools. I am using the latest Version of Photoshop CC. I have TKActionsV4 installed and have tried closing this but it didn't make any difference.
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers Brian.

I was continually frustrated with Canon dynamic range and ISO noise. I own three Canons, 1DX mkii, 5D mkiii and 7D mkii, and a large range of fast lenses. After careful research and trial including the 5DS I now have a Pentax 645z with some of their new lenses. The dynamic range and ISO performance is just amazing, so is the price. It's very expensive and the lens are rediculously expensive. It cannot do what Canon offers in Auto focus and pricing and I constantly use my 1DX mkii for sports and nature, and my 7D mkii for extended reach in sports area but my 5D mkiii is now only used for flash and when I need a different lens. The clean detail i capture with the Sony sensored Pentax i could not achieve with Canon. Wait for the reviews on the 5D mk4 and look carefully at the Dynamic range and ISO noise. I hope they make a big jump forward with the sensor, there is so many other things to like about Canon

I am an "accidental" Canon shooter. Accidental because thats where I started and the "why" I cant remember. Now I have a significant range of top end lenses and there is really no going back once you reach this point. If i started again I would carefully research Nikon as my Canons low light performance (noise issues at high ISO settings) is annoying. From what I've seen Nikon rule low light. That said I really enjoy my Canons. The Lens range is excellent. They sit comfortably in my hands, the menu systems and controls are simple and the images are "warmer"than Nikon. Both brands rule the DSLR world and both are high quality performers. Your results will depend on your skills and creativity and either of them will deliver. Lenses represent about 80% of what I've spent so earlier suggestions of being able to borrow from the family is good advice. Check that the lens mounts are compatible to the camera body you buy as Canon has 2 systems. Good luck with your choice and have fun.

OK Thanks. I need to dig deeper into LR. Appreciate your response. I have found using Topaz denoise in LR very laborious. Can it be automated in a preset? Thanks Brian

Thanks Wanda, I appreciate you responded to my request directly, which was "how do I break the habit"

I transfer from LR to PS as I prefer to use a Topaz plugin for noise reduction and smart sharpen. I also needed to reduce the resolution of the images for them to use on the web.

I think I have a solution for myself. I am using the export function from lightroon and sending all the files out as PSD to a new file. This will now allow me to run a batch from this folder. Thanks for the contributions. Cheers brian

In explorer I can see a thumbnail of the image. If I point photoshop to that file to process a batch it will do the processing on that image which is not the processed lightroom image. It makes sense that lightroom exclusively holds the images with all the edits as its non destructive. I want to be able to get at the Lightroom processed image without having to manually send everyone to photoshop.

Thanks. I am up with the play on batching etc the issue i face is having done the bulk of the processing in lightroom i want to photoshop to be able to access the processed lightroom image. If I look at the file in explorer it is has no edits.
