I seem to remember what that white stuff is, but here in NYC, it's a strain on my memory. Speaking of memory, aren't the daffodils hardy enough to perk right back up? Another memory.

If I interpret #1 correctly, David, it appears that you married above yourself. (LOL)

Mike, there's no question about it; I overreached. And she speaks reasonably good Italian.

Someone once said a rainy day in Rome is better than a good day fishing. I for one believe it!

There is never a bad day fishing! Going fishing has nothing whatsoever to do with catching fish.

...and two old people, reasonably exhausted, are on the way to enjoy their last day.
We have to pack for a 7 o'clock pick up to the airport tomorrow morning. It's almost dinner time and I am too tired to go through today's efforts. You get one street shot and one (gasp) iconic shot.

Women seem to be much more impervious to cold than men. Nice set.

Not seem, are! And stronger and better looking from my experience over decades and decades.

And for those of you of a certain advanced age, "three coins in a fountain" might mean something.
The real feel temp as I was shooting out of my rented apartment window was 36°. It might be helpful to keep that in mind as you check the images.
Dawn had come only a few minutes before I started shooting. The sun had barely begun to shed light on the ediface.
Image number two we are pretty sure was a model in a wedding dress because of the many repetitions she went through.
Image number four shows the technique used to toss a coin backwards into the fountain. Apparently very little skill is involved.
The lady in the flower dress kept looking at the shots, apparently very difficult to satisfy.
The lady in the striped jersey must've been important, because she had a police escort…or maybe just fans.
The last image is to give a frame of reference. We returned to our apartment after lunch in the middle of the afternoon, and could once again barely get through the crowds.

The first image is a cell phone pan shown to give you a good concept of the light within the pantheon. The second image shows that there is some color within it nevertheless. The third and fourth images were taken at the Trevi fountain. The fifth image shows how to make sure that one's pizza doesn't fly away. The last hints that there seems to be more smokers than I expected.

Initially, I had intended to post only street images, but eating here is apparently not just eating, but dining. It is taken quite seriously, no rushing allowed. The first two images show what it's like to go out for dinner after sunset, wandering our way through ancient streets to our destinations. The third image shows my favorite spaghetti alla vongole which I use to test the various restaurants across Rome as my appetizer, or primo piatta. And, of course, one must change the taste that lingers with gelato that cannot be duplicated anywhere else.

All youse guys are too nice. Thanks. I love to travel with my camera, and sharing it with you all is one of the pleasures of doing so. At almost 89 years of age, I don't know how much more I can do, but so far, quite good.

I am so happy to avoid carrying rolls and rolls of film. Even though I am only posting "Street" shots, I am taking probably hundreds and hundreds more, including the iconic ones. There is so much history here, so much to shoot.
The first shot was taken from my lap at lunch. This Italian grande dame never stopped talking, so I took the shot to prove that Italians do indeed eat a lot of pasta, which is always al dente, without fail.
Just like in NYC, there are dogs galore. Here, though, maybe half are not leashed; they do not stray from their owners, and seem to be extremely well trained.
The profiled older lady meandered slowly passed my camera, apparently totally oblivious to it practically sticking into her ear.

Buon giorno, i mei amici;
People are people, but still...
The only one that needs a remark is #3; this is a father after iur own hearts. His daughter, still in a stroller, is getting some instruction in camera usage.

My ancient legs...well, that's enough about me.
These mostly people shots I just found interesting as I downloaded today's work.
I think I might've overdone today, but at my age, I doubt if I'll get back here.

We older folks here in the US are familiar with the concept of earlybird specials. That is anathema to the Romans, so much so that the restaurants do not begin accepting reservations until 7 PM. They are not yet on daylight savings time, or whatever they call it here. You do not have to feel sorry for us walking to the restaurant in the dark, where I had the best spaghetti with white clam sauce ever. That's many many decades!

So many old guys here, Mike, but they don't get to see mountains...just tall buildings.

Good series.
