I'm using a Synology 4 bay system using Synology RAID. It's populated with 4 WD black drives. I have lost a drive and replaced it and the RAID rebuildt itself without any issues.

Everyweek it backs up to an external drive. I have three in rotation and 2 are stored offsite.

It's very fast - I've been running it for serveral years and have not had an issue.

I own a Nikon D750 and my lenses include Nikon's 85mm f1.4, 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f4. I want to get a wide angle for landscapes but I just don't want the bulbous front on the 14-24mm. I use NISI filters on many occasions and want a bit more ease attaching the filter system. I've had my eye on the Nikon 16-35mm f4 and the prime 20mm f1.8 but I would love your advice on a wide angle you use that I haven't researched or if I'm on the right track with one of these two lenses. Thank you in advance.

I have both the 16-35 and the 20 1.8. I have used both quite a bit on my D850 and I don't think you'll be disapointed with either lens. I also use Nisi filters on both without any problems. I primarily use the 20 1.8 for night time photos. The 16-35 is also weather sealed and I have used it in very rainy conditions in Iceland without issues. Also used the 20 1.8 for some amazing shots of the northern lights.

I used this one when I was in Iceland in the highlands. I would suggest you purchase a couple more batteries. The USB charger works but it's slow. I always kept 2 batteries charging in this when I had the chance and kept 2 others with me to shoot. It worked OK.

Hi Cindy - nice captures. I was in Iceland last fall shooting on a photo tour and this is what was suggested to me:
I’m using a D850 with a 20 1.8. Settings were: start with ISO 3200 15 seconds. Reduce the time depending on intensity of the Aurora. The lower the time the more texture you’ll capture. Set WB at 4000K. Also pre focus at infinity during the day and tape the focus ring with gaffers tape.

Depends on the purpose of your trip. I just returned Wednesday from a week long trip to the Central Highlands of Iceland. If you're going to see Iceland and take some travel photos you'll be fine. If your purpose is to do some serious photography take everything you can carry!

Some incredible light with sunset at 23:30 and sunrise at 3:30.

I really can't believe how often I read a post like this. You really should have 3 copies of all of your files. One copy is not a backup; one is an original file.

Another vote for the Nisi filter system. All glass filters.

I'm using a 2 year old Dell XPS right now. It runs great, battery life is good and it is extremely lightweight. It fits nicely in my camera backpack and I've dragged this thing all over the place. Highly recommended.

I have an 850 and a PC with 32 GB of RAM. It will work if you're willing to wait, I checked out task manager while stacking and the entire 32 GB was being used. I'm looking to upgrade to 64 GB of RAM in the near future.

Thank you everyone for your input. I tend to lean towards quality so ultimately $ doesn't play a roll in my choice. I'll probably end up getting a starter kit put together and add on over time. I am liking the test results I'm seeing from the Breakthrough product line. Super clean, virtually no vignetting or color cast and the quality is definitely there. Time to go shopping.

I purchased NISI filters on a recommendation and find them to be of the highest quality. They also have a unique CPL filter is part of the adapter.

We are going to be in Iceland (around Reykjavik area) the nights of Oct 20 and 21. Any chance we would be able to see the Northern Lights during that time ? Anyone reported recent sightings ?

I'm in Iceland right now. I've been here for a week and we've had we've seen the aurora 3 nights. There has to be solar activity and a clear or mostly clear night. There are apps you can download that will give you a forecast but the weather here changes greatly. Right now there is rain and 60 + MPG winds.

I would also recommend NISI filters. It's a great system and the filters are glass not plastic.

Have a look at Nisi NDG's excellent glass filters with no colour cast and has a polariser included in the mounting system. Have used these for a few years now with great results.
