These lilies actually gave me an excuse to get on the motorbike and shoot these pics. We always say that once the day lilies bloom summer will be over soon. I certainly hope that's not the case. Every summer travelers from across the nation are privileged to see the phlox, wisteria, rhododendron, mountain laurel, chicory, goldenrod, and aster, just to mention a few. Right now we're in the middle of the day lily display. I thought you all would want to enjoy it as well.

one is amazing

hundreds are overwhelmingly gorgeous

Boehdick, I live near the Kinzua Viaduct and have been to it several times. It was a magnificent structure before the tornado took most of it down. That was a sad day. There are several things available within a short drive for we Pennsylvanians.

What I missed was a trip across that valley in the train. Too late now. You're right, it was a sad day.

Image #1 is very cool. Since the sunlight seems to be coming from "9 o'clock", I'm guessing that you opened this backside up a bit. Is the rock really that color?
Second image, in NS you'd think that a good stiff wind would topple that. Again, looks like some localized lightening has take place, yes?

Not sure whether lightning was a factor.

True story, I played with it a little. Color may be somewhat exaggerated. The Nova Scotia pic makes me laugh as well and yes there is a degree of wind there. The first pic is the best but is almost in my backyard and you know how we travel for hours to see things and miss the local beauty around us.

Very cool and thanks for sharing. Maybe a good thing you got the photos when you did.

Thanks for viewing, your comment brings to mind the pictures I took of the Kinzua Viaduct which blew down in 2003. Glad I shot it while it was still standing. As Joni Mitchel sang, you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

In the Southwest, it would be called a hoodoo - they are all over the place due to wind erosion.

This is the only one I know of in this area and wind is not a factor as it's surrounded with trees. In fact, it sits on top of a mountain similar to bubble rock near Bar Harbor, Maine. If I call it a hoodoo, someone in my family will say "Hoodoo you think you're foolin?"

The photo is from when I was shooting jpgs only and I had bright sunlight in which to shoot. The rock is magnificent and makes me laugh when I see it. Thanks for looking.

I thought I'd seen everything ,but this defies logic to me. How is that even possible in geologic time and physical transformation ?

Given a closed system it would be impossible. It makes me laugh every time I see it.

I wanted to post these purely for the interest aspect of photography versus any artistic quality. This rock known as Ticklish Rock is difficult to photograph because it sits on the very edge of a hillside. If you ever see it you will enjoy a good laugh at its location. It is on private property so I won't divulge its location.

Sorry, hit the wrong button. I wanted to also include another rock that made my wife and I laugh when we saw it. It is in Nova Scotia.

Last but not least is a pic of my son in law's attempt at precarious rock statues.
