Having family in Israel I’ve been there many times. There is so much to see it’s mind boggling. Your itinerary is a bit of tease so I’m sure you’ll go back to see things you missed! Take a wide angle to med tele zoom and maybe a fast prime for low light situations. Do yourself a favor though…enjoy the country through your eyes…not a viewfinder. Just a suggestion. Have a great time!

[quote=SteveG]We're planning a trip to Portugal next year and I'm debating whether to take my full frame or my compact. What would you take with you? If it is the full frame, then is their one lens you would take with you? (I have a 28-60mm, 16-35mm). Or, is the Sony rx100vii sufficient for a trip to Europe? Looking forward to hearing your opinions![/quote

You will need both wide angle and med tele. The little RX has both and can live in a pocket/purse. Also, depends on the time of year your going. If it’s summer, you’ll be fine. Winter can be tougher because of the small controls. That being said, take what you’re comfortable with.

Love the oldies! Great shots. I especially like the one with a rear view and the Amfibicar in the background! Where was this show?

I know it’s not what you want but I think the blue is kind of cool!

I saw this on YouTube last night during a discussion about lenses. I have heard similar comparisons about other things.

There are three considerations when buying a lens: Good, Cheap, Fast. You can have only two of those qualities in a lens. If it's Good and Fast, it won't be cheap. If it's Good and Cheap, it won't be Fast. Etc. What we have to do is look for the best compromise - unless money is no object.

Depends on where one sets the bar for good, cheap, fast.

FWIW….I still will occasionally pick up one of my old film cameras and shoot a roll just to hear and feel the “clunk”. I sold my DSLR in favor of a much lighter Fuji and don’t regret it for a moment as it has made travel much easier as I fight the ravages of age!

I probably should know the answer to this but I don’t so please be kind.
If I set my camera focus on C it will continually focus, no? So why use BBF?

Shelling out an additional $120 for CFE cards really did suck. But IMHO they are a superior design compared to SD or CF. Hopefully prices will fall just like the predecessors.

What is the advantage of a CFE card?

GeneinChi When visiting the Isle of Skye in October I'd recommend a visit to Glen Elg. It's very nearby. Sue (my wife) and I went to Glen Elg the evening before we visited Skye. We came back along the narrow, twisty road in the hills from Glen Elg at sunset. The hills were red and stunningly beautiful. Skye actually seemed a little of an anti-climax after the Glen Elg visit.
Also recommend don't miss a visit to Applecross. Applecross is also very close to Skye. The road trip to Applecross is fabulous.

Thank you for the suggestions. I’m currently working on our itinerary and will add your recos to the list. Can’t wait!

I have a home in Douglas,MI and last week I saw this exact car driving down Blue Star Hwy. it’s rare to see this vintage Vette being out for a Sunday drive. It’s a beautiful car and a head turner. Thx for sharing.

I’ve heard nothing but positive things regarding Viltrox lenses. The 13mm is getting my attention at the moment. Trying to decide if I want to forego weather sealing. For the price it’s tempting!
