It depends upon the functionality that you need, but perhaps compatibility for sharing files with other people would be a consideration.

If you do things like pivot tables and similar then they may not play nicely with Excel. They didn't used to, but things may have changed. If it is just for your own use, then that makes things much easier.

Thank you, I chose LibreOffice . . . it does what I need.

I have used Open Office and its successor Libre Office, but doesn’t have all the functionality I need since I write complicated macros in excel which I can not write in libre office.

I am considering Apache OpenOffice. Is it a good alternative?

Can anyone identify these birds for me? Just happened to spot them outside the kitchen window. Taken leaning over the sink thru double pane window and screen so they are not the best. Have never seen these guys before. Maybe just passing thru? They are not very big. Smaller than a robin.

They are Starlings. If grain is processed near you they will most likely be there by the hundreds.

You’re welcome. It happens several times a month by me, Ron. Verizon says that all they can do is move me to another existing line, then that one fails. I live in the part of town by the that has the oldest cable, pre-fiber optic, and the splices go bad, I’ve been told.

Now that's just not fair . . . seems the hospital and university would be loudly complaining about that situation.
