Looks like stacking is still an issue here however. Any time you shoot water, filters have to be stacked because you need a polarizer as well. I notice Tim does not address this in the video.

They are stackable with this system. In fact you need one of their rings for your lens cap so that it will attach magnetically to the adapter already placed on your lens, or to a filter in place. Very convenient system, I love mine.

What do you guys think of these cities as a place to live out the latter part of life? I've been contemplating moving to Prescott or Prescott Valley AZ. They seem to have mild weather there, (unlike Phoenix) a city with fair medical care and VA Healthcare, mountains, desert, lakes, and closer to Grand Canyon etc. They don't have any big malls or museums etc, but I can live without that. They may not have a wild night life there either but I'm not looking for that either.

Any of you guy live there or been there for a while?

I lived and worked in Irvine for 25 years before retiring early 20 years ago, and decided to make Sedona my retirement home. Have been here 20 years now, and have not regretted a moment. Sedona and Prescott are at similar elevations, so have similar weather. A distinct change of seasons (unlike So Cal) but very mild which I find refreshing .The humidity is low like So Cal which I much prefer, and very few bugs. We get 3 or 4 snows a year which are beautiful, but they are usually gone by the next day. Our avg. daytime high during the winter months is 56, so very mild. Snow comes with large troughs in the jet stream which is infrequent. If photography and nature is your deal, then No. AZ and So. Utah are photography heaven. I am an avid hiker, and after 20 years, have not come close to seeing it all. And if you have done some research, you know Prescott has been in the top 10 retirement destinations for at least as long as I've been here, and many times no. 1. So why Sedona for me. Because it's like living in a national park. I know many people in Prescott and they all love it there. If you have any questions, PM me.

I am an amateur photographer with an RX100m2 which I love...Here's the problem....

I'm told by some that I should master the art of taking pics with this camera FIRST before ever thinking of upgrading my camera but I'm a bit frustrated

I know the RX100 is a great camera and even a lot of professional photographers take this as their travel camera sometimes but when I take some pics I'm limited to a 3x zoom, aperture settings and a few other features...I've taken some phenomenal pics with this camera don't get me wrong...I just think I could take better pics and learn better without the limits of the camera

Am I whining for no reason?

The just announced RX10mkIII which has a zoom range of 24-600 may be right up your alley. About anything you might want at that sensor size, lots of capability and great to learn photography on without feeling constrained.

Has anyone had any experiences with 42nd Street Photo ?

Bad news. They bait and switch and try to up sell you. Also substitute gray market and open box goods. Stay away.

I just received an email from Google saying that I was getting a refund for the Nik tools, which I purchased last month. No explanation, no nothing.

Looking on Facebook, and apparently they have decided to start giving the full suite of tools away for free. They are refunding the purchase price to anyone who bought it in the last year, or somesuch.

Just want to make sure everyone has the chance to go grab them, in case this is a mistake!

Tells me that Google is probably going to stop supporting them. No updates in awhile anyway from Google.

I use sRGB color space from beginning to end. There is no point whatever in a larger color space if the end result is to be sRGB. A larger color space compresses the sRGB colors into a smaller space to make room for the extra colors. If it is converted back... the effect is the same as any lossy compression, something is lost in translation. I do commercial printing with an Epson 7890 24" printer. The Adobe RGB color space is larger for some colors than the gamut the printer can put on paper. The only effect of using Adobe RGB would be to make softproofing more difficult.

If, and only if, you do your own printing and it is for publication, where the color match is of huge significance, use Abobe RGB.

For typical production of prints meant for sale to hang on the wall... it is counter productive to use Adobe RGB as opposed to sRGB. Note that that applies equally to using any wide gamut color space while editing and the having to convert back to sRGB at the end. And of course posting anything to the web using aRGB is foolish.

Thanks for the advise. Will check them out. Are these portable or require 110V

The Elite Pros are desktop units that require 110V. However MacSales also carries portable USB powered units.

Any suggestions for a reliable 1 TB external drive for a Mac?

I have used the Mercury Elite Pros from MacSales.com exclusively for the past 7 years and never had a problem. Highly recommended. They cater to Mac accessories.

Just returned from our Out of Africa wild animal park for an afternoon of shooting. It's about a 5 mile walk through if you do the whole thing, which I did. Spent about 4 hours there, and carried my E-M5II with the 75-300 mounted in my hand!! the entire time with no problems. No way to that with a DSLR and a 600 equiv. lens. May be Swartznegger might. Got some great closeups with that long zoom too.
