jerryc41 has a good point and for that reason i use windows 10 on line but a different computer with xp for my apps.
If you play on line or cannot afford two computers then a fresh clean load of win 10 is your best choice.
For those limited to xp i have found Kaspersky anti virus easy to maintain and effective for the past 4 years.

xp is a great operating system, simple enough for us non geeks to use and interface.
I'll take it anytime over this stupid bloated window 10 anyday.
