I use the new 1.7 with my new 70-200 2.8 lens on my D4 and it works great in and outdoors.

Early last month I asked you about auto ISO since I never used it and was traveling to do some very casual family and friends shooting. I didn't need FF so the D4 and big fast glass was staying home. I acquired a D40x outfit that wasn't being used. I did buy a grip/battery pack. extra batteries and the proper lens hoods for the lenses. I'm over 40 years shooting with big Nikons, I needed to get that feel again even with the much smaller camera. D40x with 18-55 AFS VR, 55-200 and SB-900. I shot everything on full auto ISO ( as most of you suggested ), full auto program and portrait mode once. I have to say that little camera did a very good job. Some minor editing with Picasa for some cropping and fill and then made Cd's for each and they were more than happy with the results. Thank You !!!

Thanks SS I always enjoy your comments. I was asking mainly for when I use the longer zoom without flash of course. I'll play with it and see how it works for me. Take Care !!!

I know exactly what you mean however for what I will be doing ( very casual ) I really don't need the D4, 70-200 2.8 etc. The D4 is the best I ever used and I've been shooting since the late 60's. I started digital with a D1 and worked my way up. I've used my friends D700 and it is awesome.

I have a trip coming up and I'm going light. Instead of some of my FX gear I will bring a D40x outfit that I seldom use and I mean seldom. I don't remember the last time I used it. D40x with grip and two batteries, two lenses and an SB 900 flash. Casual outdoor shooting with people and sometimes a classic car as a prop along with a large family picnic. Never used Auto ISO. Your thoughts please !!!

I've used a TC 1.4 and was very happy with it and now I have the new TC 1.7 and love it. On my 70-200 2.8 II and other lenses on the D4 it is awesome.

I've been shooting since the late 60's and I've worked up to D3's, D3s and now the D4. It's the best I've ever had. I shot hockey with the D4, 70-200 2.8 II and the TC 1.7 tele and it worked out great thru plexi also. I was stuck in one place and couldn't move so I added the tele when I went behind the goalie to get the reach. Even with the loss of some light b/c of the tele everyone was quite happy with the results and some of my images made a magazine.

I had that problem with a Lexar CF card once and sent it to Lexar after speaking with them and not only did they retrieve the photos they sent me a new card. I didn't have a recovery program at that time. Lexar and San Disk have been very good to me for many years both CF and SD.
