Interesting look. I, too, would like to see the original.

Well, here I am... not an expert, but I do a lot of flowers, many of which I am not happy with. The iris is not in focus. I would suggest that you either capture the entire flower or zoom in closer to get just a part. But focus.

The ladybug image... that should be your center of interest... and better focus is needed again... unless you focus just on the ladybug.

The third image, the pollen, is the most interesting of the three. Stand a little further back so that you can get the whole picture of the pollen covered whatever they are called. I forget at the moment. I do that a lot, forget. It is better to have to crop a little than to chop off important elements, in my mind.

Do NOT sharpen a low res photo like that. Artifacts are showing already. Color correction and softening (like Erbin's High Pass) is what is needed

Oops! I did not see your comment. You may be right. Did not realize how low res it was. My bad.

Did you try unsharp mask in photoshop? I did this quickly... the amount of sharpness can be controlled. There are many different programs that do this sort of thing.

Great! I don't have any big cats lying around, just little doggies. Great shots.

Your photos are lovely. However, I find them to have a lack of sharpness. Red is a difficult color to photograph unless done right (I do not know what right is). There is no detail in the petals of the flower.

I hope you do not mind my reactions. Just giving my impressions.

Keep shooting. I like your eye for subject.

Thanks for your input. I am the secretary or administrator for several PSA study groups, and I would love to be able to send your advice to them... would that be okay with you?

Thanks again.

Well, many of the Masters group in my local photography club have their photos printed at Costco... the prints are marvelous and not very costly. A 20x30 costs $8.99. Try it. You might like it.

I assume that Linda Lee must be a professional who sells a lot of photographs to have a printer like that. Wow!

You are all scaring me into doing something. I do have some external storage as well as cds... but am not great about doing this.

I shall try to do better.

At the top of this thread, there was an ad for cloud storage,100% totally free from mypcbackup.com. Upon investigation, it is 100% totally free for 14 days. That ad should not be allowed on this site.

I always (unless I forget to put it back in my bag) carry a pocket camera with me.
When I first started shooting with a 35mm slr, I used to carry that everywhere. That is not an option anymore... my camera is heavier now (a Nikon D300s), and I am older... so, I carry my little one. A Panasonic Lumix which takes GREAT pictures.

This is a white flower with morning dew on it. No clue as to what the name is.
This is a macro shot, with a 60mm macro lens.

Well, you know what it's called now... (I'm late on this one! lol)
It's BEAUTIFUL!
Whether deliberately or not, I LOVE that part of it is not in the shot... and the drops really set it off!

Another GORGEOUS photo from you... you're good! :)

.

Thank you so much, I deliberately left part of it out.
I'm always looking for the ones with water on them.

If you carry a spray bottle, you can always have drops. I never do, but I should. Have a great day!

Vee - I did not realize until a recent on line conversation in another post that adding one's own images on someone else's post was called hijacking. So, I apologize for that. Exceptions to that rule seem to be redos of your phot by others, or similar ones to make a point. I shall try to behave... and your white dahlia gets better every time I look at it.

My favorites are the first two. The second I like as is...it gives the feel of a real snowstorm. I guess you could trim of a little from the right side to comform with the rule of thirds. The first one is nicely composed and I love the pure white background/foreground. I tried some things with it. See what you think. The idea was to make the bridge more of a point of focus.

Thanks mommy. I'm not enthralled with the "auto-contrast" version because it strips part of what I intended to convey - namely, that after the fresh snow it was so cold that there was a fog set in that caused everything in the scene to lose clear focus, even to the naked eye. I like the re-composure fine except for one thing, as in the first one - it makes the bridge look ever so slightly bigger, which is actually an optical illusion, and leaves the impression that I was closer to the bridge than I was and would hence diminish the degree of severity to which the fog impacted the scene. I don't know, maybe my idea of what I wanted to convey is a little over the top with respect to what I CAN convey. We can sure talk ourselves into stuff, huh? It was not the bridge or the tree in the first two that was my subject - it was the atmospheric conditions that existed in a record cold incident. Thanks.

Thanks Strubbles. I also wanted to convey the potential feeling of lonely isolation that one could ascribe oneself to, transferring to a human condition the act of being out there alone in that kind of weather, forever - knowing all the while that the bridge, the tree, the lake, indeed the park were all surrounded by a densely populated area just feet away all conveniently removed by mother nature solely for the purpose of allowing me to get such a picture. It's beginning to look like I failed in my intent, imagination run amok. That may be the major thing wrong with my sense of one of the main purposes of photography. The mind races ahead and imagines situations that the camera cannot depict. It's almost seems to be a little "nuts."

I love the first one! At first glance I thought you had photoshopped that color in (though don't know why someone would do such a thing with that photo). That lovely color with the snow laden evergreens is beautiful.

It is true color I am always concern when you take a photo with that gift of color from mother nautre that someone will think that..I did look for the sunset the next night...hoping for the pink but it was an orange still beautiful fall is upon us so from my chair I will be watching usually first snow...I only see the sunset on that mountain.. the west is behind our place lots of trees and mountains

Tell me what you'd do with these, please... Any reason for them to exist? This blizzard and then fog occurred on the 7th of February, 2009 and was the 2nd coldest day in Denver's weather recording history. Some of us won't enjoy seeing this with winter coming on but what I'm looking for is the concensus of opinion as to whether they have any decorating merit, like perhaps in a home where there is an "all-white" freak. What do you think - honestly. Let me have it. These are not black and white. All were shot with a Canon EOS 5D MkII and an EOS 70-200, f2.8. All 3 were shot at f5.6 @ 1/80th and 100iso, handheld

Why don't you have a go at it Strubbles. Let me see what you have pictured in your mind. I've not made it to the point yet of combining elements of different shots except in the case of inserting someone into a family portrait who wasn't around at the time of the portrait sitting. I've mostly done that with old photos involved with some genealogy stuff I've done on my family. I'll be anxious to see what you have in mind. Thanks.
