I have PS6. If I purchase the Nik software and use it in that will I have issues if I switch from PS6 to something else? I may drop Photoshop eventually as I refuse to RENT on the cloud. What is req'd to save the Nik software or any other software used as a plug in when deleting the PS6?

I have heard that there are some compatibility issues with Photoshop CC, and as of the time CC was released, they didn't know when, or if, they would be fixed. Otherwise, the Nik package is great and an incredible deal for the price.

It seems like this adds the location to the image as the picture is taken, correct?

Yes, that's exactly what it does. It embeds the latitude/longitude and elevation info into the metadata for each image. Some image software, such as Lightroom, will read this data and display where your images were taken on a map. I have the Nikon GP-1 myself, and while pricey, it works well.

I have to go there. Where is it? My beach is all picked over and a morsel of sea glass is a rare find.

It's in Fort Bragg, California, a few hours North of San Francisco. It used to be a big logging town, but now it's mostly about tourism. Nice place. http://www.fortbragg.com

We are going on a one week cruise to Alaska. I like to shoot landscapes. Will be taking some shots from on deck as well as walking around. Plan on taking a few lenses including the 100-400.

Would you take a tripod or a monopod? I will not be able to take both.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I went on a cruise up there a few years ago and took both, but only used the monopod. I was using it with an 80-400 and found it to be very useful.
