Actually I did it with just using "layers." First Google "picture frames" or "photo frames" and find some images (jpegs) that you like. Try to get them large enough for your photo. My cameras spits out 4,000 x 3,000, so I look for some like 2,000 or so. Then you just fool around with a lot of erasing and resizing. Next time I'll try to put everything on a larger textured canvas because I think the white to the right of the frame is distracting.

Oh, thank you so much, Geezer. I really appreciate the information. This looks like a lot of fun and the possibilities are endless... :-P 8-)

I got the idea from Angler, who posted a great bird photo.

Since I don't have Photoshop, I tried experimenting with Gimp.

But I'll bet Photoshop would have been easier and faster.

This is great! I have Gimp. Can you tell me how I would learn to do something like this? Thanks a lot

Yes, they did. The camera and card were fine. It was probably a $200 camera in a $200 case, and it survived for six years in the Pacific. There's a lot about it on the web.

That is so amazing! :P

Thanks. All I need is a little bit of justification for an equipment purchase. :D

Would a regular P&S be OK, or can I justify buying a waterproof model? I've been to the Falls, but never on the Maid.

I'm not really sure myself but I would imagine the waterproof would be the way to go to feel safe. I've never used a waterproof camera so I don't know what the quality of the photos would be like. Maybe someone here on this thread could let you know how the waterproof cameras are quality wise.........Good luck!

I am visiting Niagara later in the year as part of a New England fly-drive and we want to do the Maid of the Mist boat trip to the falls. Is it too wet to take my 7d on the boat, should I use a cheap point & shoot camera for that ? Has anyon taken a good DSLR and got good shots through the mist , or am I risking damage to it ?

I live close to the Falls and you do get drenched from all the spray. They give you rain ponchos to wear. I used my Fuji Finepix and had it inside a large freezer zip lock bag and got beautiful pictures. But if you are worried, do bring a point and shoot. Have a great time. It's a blast! Such a different perspective of the Falls. You feel one with the Falls as opposed to viewing it nearby.....

Nice series. I did not think it could get cold enough to freeze waves. I've not seen that before. Thank you for posting these.

You should see Niagara Falls in the winter! The ice formations are gorgeous ;-)

There goes your expensive lens!

Might be a good reason to get a whole new outfit.

Oh! So that's your agenda

Only when I am forced. My old D70 still hanging on. Color is getting good here in Hoosierland so will keep shooting. Big Covered Bridge Festival soon. Unreal the number persons that come to that. :XD:

Sorry about posting this one twice but I did not realize I had to check store original if I wanted any of you to help the shot in photshop so here I go posting it again. I don't like how the foreground is so dark so if someone could do there magic and let me know what they did I would appreciate it!

I tried to bring out the foreground without hurting the rest of the shot.

pappy

This is beautiful! How did you get all the gorgeousl colors to pop in the foreground?

On a trip home to Tennessee, we were lucky enough to visit a friend who raises several different breeds of animals. My nine year old daughter ran off with my camera and she captured Dr. Doolittles llama, Push Me, Pull You.

I understand it's not technically correct, but she is so proud of this picture.

Amazing! I never saw a 2 headed llama (alpaca?) before. What a cool shot! Very nice....

I went camping in the Nevada desert a couple weeks ago and took a couple night shots. I'm having a hard time deciding on the one I like best. Which one is better? C&C welcome. Thanks

These are fantastic! The 1st one is phenomenal. The composition is perfect. Can you please tell me what camera setting you used? ISO, aperture, shutter? Thanks so much. How gorgeous
