Don't you mean the Waimea trail, not rail. Check at the park headquarters for any of the trails. Need 2 dry days on some of the trails.

Where will you be staying? We will be there in April for our 18th trip. Be sure and hike the beaches from Poipu to the Sheraton and keep an eye out for the monk seals and sea turtles. Also, from Shipwreck Beach there is a hike along the ocean (toward the east) that is awesome. If you can get to Mahaulepu Beach - long stretch of virgin sand and if conditions are right, plenty of wind surfers. The cane road in is really rough but the end is fantastic. Go north into the Makauwahi Cave Reserve. There is a cave there of historic significance and they are "rewilding" the area. They have imported turtles that are chomping away at the non-native vegetation. You can walk among them. If you are going to the WiWaimea Canyon, be sure to leave early and drive to the overlook first, before the area "mists" over. Sunsets on the beach!

I was also told that the CP is not really effective in super dry air (similar to MT and ID). The humidity in the air helps the light. Is this true?

By all means visit San Xavier del Bac. White Dove of the Desert Mission church. So much to photograph there and the historical value is awesome.

Need any suggestions regarding a trip from Mesa to Petrified Forest/Painted Desert, Show Low, Springerville,Safford, Chiricaua Natl Monument, Douglas, Bisbee Tucson, Surprise (visit with brother and wife). Need info on Highway 191. Understand it is quite curvey and high elevation. Trip begins in 2 weeks. Would we likely be on snowy, icy road?
Thanks.
P.S. We had 65 degrees this week and mostly int he 50's. Mountains have above average snowpack, but Bitterroot Valley has not had snow forever. That is why it is called the Bannana Belt of Montana. Sorry Boston!

We stayed at Stovepipe Wells last Feb. It was comfortable - no TV or Phone and very little Cell coverage (most of the park). We ate at the restaurant there-served a buffet in the am and dinner at night. My brother's camera club from Surprise AZ used it as there "home base" for their excursions. Everyone was satisfied.

We stayed at the Best Western in Williams. It was great - nice lodge atmosphere as the place is tucked up on a hill surrounded by pine trees. Breakfast was great and they also have a hot tub. Highly recommendedl.

Do you use a tripod? We have a home business as well. Our pics are usually taken outdoors with a backdrop -we have wood toys and the flash indoors does not work well with the wood. Find that outside with indirect sun is what we need. If not using a tripod, use a 1/500 speed at f/16. Small amout of cropping and post processing.

In western MT, all thistles are considered Noxious weeds. We have many around us. The most effective cure is to pour white vinegar on the new growth. Kills it in one day. Most herbicides do not work on these. We walk the property every other day (on squirt patrol) with a detergent bottle full of white vinegar. This often since the neighbors around us do nothing to control their yards and fields.

A recent cruise/tour to Alaska had us in flight from Anchorage to Fairbanks. We could not believe the awesome collection of colors as we flew up the Nenana River.

I was told to get a sponge to set the camera (or monoa) on to reduce vibration.

Toured this ship while in Honolulu on vacation. We were to young to be affected by the war, however, it still created "chills" as we listened to the tour guide. A must do addition if you ever visit Pearl Harbor, which also lead to "chills".
