We have a 3 month old calf that doesn't like camera's I guess. Today I got her and mom side by side as she was trying to hide. They both had their tongues sticking out at me.

I don't get any respect.

Great shots LB, love to watch the Eagles do their works of grace. Your avatar pics look a lot like RlseipleSR Avatar horse and rider with chaps and horse markings.

Very nice shot Mary. I belong to Capture MN and enjoy their forum also but have been busy since we bought a hobby farm. I hope to have more time later this year to get the camera out for more walks. I have only been shooting hockey games of our local team (the River Lakes Stars) in the Richmond and Paynesville arena's. Congratulations of POTD.

No Erv I didn't take the camera out with me. If I think of it Thursday and the sky is not cloudy I will try to remember. I will have to leave it sit until chores are done or get a shot before starting them. The only bad thing is listening to the cows mooing and the donkey's hee haw.

Good morning Erv, I just got in from shoveling and feeding the livestock. The fluffy snow here was sure pretty and the moon going down over the trees before it got light out was beautiful. Love the frosted window shot and the others were good also.

The best way I have found to stop squirrels from raiding the feeder is to install a cone as in this picture. They can jump up onto the bird bath but can't get past the cone on the shepherds hook. Good luck Tom.

Here I was, just the other day bragging about how the squirrels do not climb up my bird feeder. And now this!

I even banged on the window to scare him off. He didn't care.

I think a step up transformer @ about 240 volts @ 15 amps for the first couple of feet ought to do it.

Great series Marilyn, I feel sorry for these creatures as they struggle to find food. They are such a pleasure to watch and so graceful.
Just a note to let you know that since I wired a light bulb in our livestock waterer it hasn't frozen up again thank God. We here in central MN have just a trace of snow on the ground and I'm sure we will be having more problems this spring if we don't get a little more snow for ground cover. Hope all is well with you and keep the pictures coming as I still haven't had any deer show up in our area.

I agree with MT shooter, looking at the trees in your picture I believe it is a pine needle blown out of the trees' and falling to the ground.

Great pictures Dave, I can't wait till it warms up a bit to get the camera outside again. The last time I saw eagles up close I left my camera in the truck as I had to drive a open tractor about 5 miles. I hope to get back to that area again and find where they are hanging out.

Looks like the bird needs and ice chisel to get into the water. But that is my thoughts being from MN and looking at this picture the pond looks frozen. I lived in Smithtown for a year and a half and the cold there was never like we had in the north west. Then I moved back to MN, What was I thinking. Loved sailing and scuba diving while I lived there and still visit my landlord I rented from.

Thats a nice photo with your wife and the pets. Taking care of animals is stressful when things don't go right. if you need some ideas/ help for insulating that- let me know, my son is the top insulating contractor in Denver and i am sure he would offer suggestions free of charge.

I am going to build some sort of protection around it and I have wired a light inside the housing for extra heat. The water pan itself has a heater on each side of the corral so the water doesn't freeze in the pan but the pipes are freezing as we don't use enough water with just the 2 cows and 2 donkeys. All in the life of a new farm learning experience. Also a picture of the wife with the donkeys on Christmas morning as we took them carrots for their treat.

Ohhhh i love this picture..
Have you thought about wrapping the heater in blanket insulation or making a Styrofoam box above it.

So far Tuesday morning was -4 degrees but the wind has been 10-15 miles per hour. The problem being is the waterer is between 2 corrals, one we have the cow and calf (born November 15th) and the other is for the donkeys. The calf is just a little to small to be put in with the donkeys yet but it won't be to long as she is getting bigger every day. The heatere is still running on the waterer to thaw it out with a coat over it to break the wind.

You can see the waterer in the left upper corner out in the open and the wind hits the area from the north and west.

A different look but very nice effect Marilyn. Still no deer around our house so far this winter. The only thing I have been busy with is thawing out the livestock waterer. So far this morning still no water, hauling by bucket again till the Ritchie waterer thaws.
