These are very valuable for those working in Photoshop as their editor of choice. It should be noted, however, that many, but not all, of the effects can be produced rather simply using Lightroom, and with far fewer steps involved.

The Clone Tool in LR5 works in a different way to some other Adobe programs (I have CS3) and in my opinion it is nowhere near as easy to use. Have look at the video in this link.

Thanks....but I know how to use the tools. My problem is that the Clone tool does not work. When I select it, it reverts to the heal tool. In fact, when I select clone, the cursor changes to a small scissors icon.

Not sure what you mean by "drop down" for the tool. This used to work fine. I could select Heal, and the heal function would work. I could then switch and elect Clone, and that would work fine also. Now when I select Clone, and press OPT to set the source area, the cursor changes to a small scissors...if I go further with the tool at that point it reverts to the Heal function.

Incidentally, I tried the Clone tool in my version of LR4, not 5, and the tool works fine. The problem is only occurring in LR5.

If you look in the drop down for the tool you'll see that it can be change from Clone to Heal. If you consult help it will explain how to change it back. There's probably nothing wrong with the program, you have probably caused the change yourself.

Have been using both Clone and Healer in LR5. Now, Clone does not work...selecting it brings up the Heal feature. Any suggestions?

Can the Nik modules like Color Efex be purchased separately, or only as a collection package?

Can anyone recommend a good relatively inexpensive portable reflector.

The only thin I can think of is that your import settings on your software changed it from Raw to Jpeg.
Is that possible?

The photos are Jpeg format on the Card....hence the mystery!!

Thanks anyway.

Did you have only one SD card inserted? If you specify RAW in slot 1 and JPG in slot 2, but have no card in slot 1, then you will record only the JPG image.

Nope...have 2 cards and card two is set to "overflow"

I was on photoshoot using D7000 set at Raw format...shot at extremely high ISO due to lighting etc. Mystery: Despite the Raw setting, all photos were converted in camera to Jpeg. Is this related to the high ISO, of did I inadvertently change the setting while shooting (which I highly doubt since I did not access the menu).

Help!

Are you referring to the Hight ISO NR in the shooting Menu? If so, that setting determines the degree of noise reduction carried out when high ISO settings are used in the exposure.

Yes that is the setting I mean. Question: Does this "noise reduction" effect impact the image shot in raw format?

Depends on other settings, are you shooting with auto ISO, do you set ISO manually, do you have set limits for variation in ISO in auto mode?

I normally shoot with auto ISO...have not set auto limits

High ISO just allows a much higher ISO capacity, i.e. you can now choose 12,000 iso or whatever when you have high ISO enabled.

Thanks for the reply. What I was asking was there is a setting in the camera custom menu area called High ISO or Low ISO for use in various lighting conditions; does this setting affect the image when I shoot raw?
