That is nice! Could you tell me how I could have achieved that with my camera? I was setting the meter to the middle "0."

Please and thank you.
:-)

Pre-processed in the camera, perhaps slight over exposure of 1/2 to 1 fstop. Post processing is easier, I used Elements 9; Enhance//Adjust Lighting//Shadows/Highlights. Play with all three sliders until you get the effect you want.

I'm still learning PP techniques and the Neahkahnie Mt. shot is definitely overdone. I processed that one a while ago and I had a tendency to over cook due to inexperience. I'm working on toning it down some. Here's another try.

Both are very nice. You can get a slightly lower angle view of this beach from Hwy 101. Have driven by it several times and always thought there was a great picture to be taken, tho every time I was dealing with dark overcast and dismal lighting.

Nice shots but the colors look a little flat

Do you have a suggestion how the flatness could be resolved, either post processed via Photoshop or pre processed in the camera.

I was just about to ask what type of processing you were doing to those photos. I'm trying to troubleshoot same for a friend who often gets the same result.

It's odd the first three would look so similar with each needing some help and then the Aspen shot is dead on....

What "processing" did you do in Elements? I'm still curious since my friend "processes" in Elements also and has similar effects happening without really realizing why.
Are these HDR or Tonemapped images?

Did not HDR/tone map these photos. First two used Nikon D5000 (12mps) with VI setting then post processed in Elements 9. Trappers Loop was shot with a Minolta Dimage7 (7mps) then processed with Elements 9.

Don't recall exactly but I'm sure it involved adjusting midtone and levels.

I like this shot.. took it at Findley State Park in Ohio.

Don't crop, you will lose the long tree reflections. Should you get another opportunity place the swan in the center vertically and slightly off center horizontally. Yes this flies in the face of "rule of thirds" but sometimes the rules need to be broken.

Two things to try using Photoshop product.
1. Select Enhance/adjust lighting/shadows&highlights. Adjust the shadow control bar.
2. If the above affects the sky too much, then use selection brush to select only the mountains. Then adjust shadows&highlights.

I like the shot , hope U don't mind that I played with it a little,I think it brings out some hidden detail

The colors are over saturated wih little improvement in detail. Perhaps the difference is in the monitor calibration yours & mine.

Your's appear flat on my moniter

Looks like Gessman called it correctly. http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-2889-1.html
