Good photo! I'd wager the same bird caught it again on the way down.

Thank you, and yes it did!

Rode 60 miles today through Green Swamp in Florida. Managed to snap photos of a few of the critters along the way...almost all with telephoto. The gators were all seen from small bridges along the way, but the cottonmouth was only a couple feet to the side of the trail. I never saw him, but another biker pointed him out to me...yikes!

Great ride and captures.....just another day in Florida!

This set is a few shots taken on a 2018 tour along the Island in the Sky (ISKY) Parkway in Canyonlands NP. Canyonlands NP is over 340,000 acres and Island in the Sky District is one of four major districts. It is the easiest to reach from Moab. The tour also included a short stop at Dead Horse State Park (photos posted yesterday).

The problem with a tour of any area as interesting as the Arches/Canyonlands area is that the time spent and the time of day different views are reached is rarely optimum of all members of the tour. These shots give you a slight taste of what you can see in this wonderful national resource.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

According to the Cornell Lab All About Birds website, the Brown and Peruvian Pelicans are the only two pelican species that plunge-dive for their food.

The reference also suggests the following: "During a dive, the Brown Pelican tucks its head and rotates its body to the left. This maneuver is probably to cushion the trachea and esophagus—which are found on the right side of the neck—from the impact."

Check out the downloads for some cool detail.
