They are saved on the C drive in Libraries/Pictures then I process them in Photoshop CS6.

This is probably a stupid question, but I honestly don't know how to get an image into the RAW format for PP if it is already downloaded on the computer. I shoot in RAW and JPEG simultaneously and I know when I first load it the RAW file shows up, but can you go back to RAW after downloading and saving in JPEG or PS?

Does anyone know if "Smart Photo Editor" advertised on here is any good. The free trial is not full enough to really give it a proper test.
Cheers, John, Leyland, England.

Hi John, I bought it and play about with it quite a lot, not a bad program, and as Jerryc41 said, not expensive!

I see that it's now $29.99 in the U. S.

I bought it when it was $19.99- it is totally worth it even if all you do is play with different effects. A good deal for cheap!

If you get interested in more of Bryan, he teaches on-line courses at PPSOP.com, and I am taking one as we speak. It is the Power of Layers and his techniques and method of teaching are the best I have seen (and I have taken many on-line courses.) Check it out is you are interested in Photoshop - he teaches other courses as well. This is a great site if you are interested.

Could someone tell me how to open 2 images at once on CS6? I still have CS5 and it has a box in the options bar that will open the images 2 in a row, 3 in a row, etc. but CS6 has done away with that. How do you open multiple images together on one screen?

Here is a pic of Times Square that I ran through Polor Coordinates and I thought the colors worked well. I have tried many photos with this method....some are bad, some okay (in my opinion).

Just for the record, I ordered a SanDisk 16 GB card from Amazon, who subbed out the order to 17th St. Photo, and it was defective from the beginning. Thank goodness I didn't lose any irreplaceable photos but I am going through a huge ordeal trying to get a replacement for it. Amazon said they weren't responsible, 17th St. told me to contact SanDisk, so I am in the middle of a ton of red tape. They are going to replace it but not until they have run out of excuses.

I just ordered a Fotosharp raincoat like you suggested so I am sure I will be happy knowing I have it if needed. The tour guide/photographer suggested a telephoto and a wide-angle lens plus close up extension lens....I have a close up prime 60mm and a prime 50mm plus my Tamron 18-270, so I hope that will cover the range. Thank you for your suggestion.

I just ordered a rainsleeve suggested by another UH member - I decided I'm going to go with my Tamron 18-270 and a close-up lens and hope for the best. Does this lens do okay as a wide-angle lens or do you think one needs a real 10-20 wide angle or similar? I'm hoping I can get away with two lenses since that is why I bought the 18-270 in the first place. I mean, one would be better off with several primes lenses plus a super-telephoto, but some of us can't afford that right now. Thanks for the input.

I have taken courses through Better Photo.com and while not being cheap, they were very detailed and had good interaction with students and instructors. All my questions were answered quickly and although it was a lot of material that was beyond my expertise at the time, I quickly caught up and completed all the assignments. My local community college also offers courses and I have actually gotten more out of that(cheaper too)than the other. I took an intermediate Photoshop course and learned a LOT since it was easily understood and very well explained. I would suggest that route if possible.

Not to worry...I took it as humor even is some others didn't. Yes, I saw Jaws and had nightmares for weeks! I can only hope that the boat we are on is a really big one! My concern is that the wimpy lens I have well not be enough to catch anything (unless it is jumping in the boat). May consider renting a lens - has anyone ever done that?

Does anyone have any advice about equipment to take on a photo shoot/Photoshop excursion in Provincetown, MA? Most of the trip will be on the water but also they will take us around in dune buggys to tour the area beaches and towns. I have a Tamron 18-270 and also a Canon 75-300 (with no IS). I also have numerous other lenses but I am thinking I can get away with only the one Tamron. I don't know whether to take a tripod- would the Tamron be sufficient without one since it has IS? I know a super zoom would be the best solution in the ocean scenario, but alas, I can't afford one yet. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, do I need waterproof bags for this sort of thing?
Thanks, Nicki

Well, my Epson 3000 uses 9 ink cartridges so there is no shortage of colors! It just seems to use them up pretty quickly if you are not careful....However, I don't think you could go wrong with an Epson - mine produces incredible prints and I think they are better than a pro lab could do. Good luck!

I have turned my 3rd bedroom into a photo room which is overflowing with equipment including 2 printers, 2 computers, a scanner, around 30 photo albums containing old film images, boxes of color slides, negatives, and all my photography equipment which is minimal compared to some. Just one Canon SLR, 10 lenses (some still useful, some not), tripods (3), frames and mounting board, mats for all sizes, extra foam board for mounting, etc. etc. Does it all fit in one room - no, but I have no other choice right now.
(not to mention all the books, magazines, notes from photo courses, and a growing collection of extra lights and reflectors. Does anyone else feel like this stuff is squeezing you out of your own home?
