Having fun while getting great results seems a smart way to spend the day, Joe. Beautiful...and interesting images!

Hi Donna, thank you. Cold dreary day here, gives me a chance to practice and learn.

I love it! You're going in the right direction!

Thank you Caryl. Still working at it, much to learn. I have been reading every thing I can find and watching some videos on line.

Worked on my new project today, photographing water drops and it has been challenging. My goal was to catch two drops colliding after the first one bounced off the surface of water while the second was still falling. I managed to get a few, hope you enjoy.

Hi Karen, thank you very much. This is my second attempt at this, it's very frustrating at times, but a lot of fun.

I did some a few years ago Joe...a quick trigger finger and a flash were what worked for me...

Thanks for the information Ron, every little bit helps. I am currently shooting with a cable release and shooting in bursts (high speed). One of the big problems is focus, I need to be at a slight angle in order to include the surface of the water. This results in the camera be in a slightly different plane than the drop of water. I have been shooting with an aperture of between f6 and f8 to try and get a decent depth of field and still get enough light to the sensor. Right now it's a work in progress.

Had a little time today so I thought I would work on my skills (which need a lot of work) on photographing water drops. I have had mixed results, still struggling with focus and timing. Hope you enjoy.

I have done several of these water drop shots, they can be quite challenging. I have to say your colors are outstanding.

Hi Jim, thank you for taking a look. Challenging yes, I had many other words come to mind while trying this. The colors were obtained with two remote flashes and a green, red and blue gel, I interchanged them as I was shooting.

Very interesting, Joe--great results.

Hi Earl and thank you for taking a look. These were my first attempts and there was a lot of trial and error, more error.

No advice from me, Joe. I'd like to learn the technique myself. These are all beautiful.

Good morning Donna and thank you for the kind words. As I said this is my first attempt at this and to be truthful I got lucky. The last photo with the nail was a surprise to me, I was using the nail to determine where the drop was going to hit and focused on the nail. I have a lot to learn.

Tried something new today, water drops. Have to admit it was frustrating at times but did manage to get a few. The last photo in the series is a drop landing on the end of a nail, guess it could be said I nailed it. Hope you enjoy. Also, if anyone has experience with this type of photography I would appreciate all the advice I can get.
