Thanks for the chuckle. I think I've decided to stick with the 580EXII.

That is what I feared. Looks like my wife's G12 is the backup.

My internal flash is not "popping up." 580EXII external works fine. Called Customer Service, ran few tests. On the flash shoe, on the right side there is a long arm under the rail. This is depressed when an external flash is installed. Under that arm is a microswitch which is probably not popping up when external flash is removed.

Has anyone successfully remediated this problem?

What does memory card class refer to? It has been mentioned several times in memory card discussions.

Just received a now ScanDisk Ultra 8GB card as a gift and find no reference to class on packaging.
