Hinckley Buzzard Sunday in Hinckley, Ohio: See buzzards (turkey vultures) come home to roost in the rock cliffs and ledges in Hinckley. This annual celebration dates back to 1957 when 9,000 visitors flocked the township to see the return of the buzzards from their winter hiatus. The event includes an early bird hike; skits, songs and stories performed in tents or in fields, displays, crafts, photos, contests and additional hikes. Don’t miss this rite of Spring. Learn about the legend that surrounds Buzzard Day and why so many buzzards and people come out in March.

Not at all, it sounds like a great time, I would love to be there.

Seems to me I read somewhere that a southern city (I can't remember the name) has/had a Vulture Festival on the day that traditionally the the buzzards return.

That sounds like a fun get together, do they hold it at the local morgue?

Amazing, Chuy! Is this sort of like the Swallows coming to Capistrano?

I lived not to far from the mission and visited many times, I don't think the buzzards would be to well-received as the famous swallows are, they might cut down on the tourism, just a tad.

So fun! love your narrative, Chuy! Hope you had lots of ducklings and goslings to amuse you this summer!

I had five families this year of geese and two duck families, one goose family decided to leave a two-week old in my care, nothing new. Thanks Carlysue.

Fun shot. They are all probably sterile from exposure to RF Radiations

Yes, not happy when I catch them up there, they are usually in the woods by the creek with me.

Nice one, Chuy. You have a knack for attracting our feathered friends. I thought the ducklings you adopted were cute but I’d definitely be nervous if a flock of vultures set up camp near me. Perhaps I watched too many horror movies as a kid. 😀

Thank you, John, This tower thing is a recent thing of theirs, they are usually on the creek with me and the ducks and geese. In the morning before they go on their hunting trip, they line both sides of the creek, on hot steaming mornings in the fog I feel like I'm on Safari. I really look forward to them coming home in the Spring every year.
