In 1948 a National Geographic Society crew named this basin after the popular film. It is small, but contains 67 sedimentary pipes and geologic layers that reveal 180 million years of geologic time. It has a small campground and is a good dark sky area.
Our tour stopped for a few hours on the way from Goblin Valley S.P. to Bryce Canyon. This is one of the frequently overlooked sites when people concentrate on the "Mighty 5" Utah parks.

Very slim pickings this morning I did manage to see a Black-capped chickadee its very hard shooting into branches and even harder to get them in flight
