Interesting, yes, I used to shoot bw and do my own darkroom work back in the day. I'm mostly seeing in 'color', but do occasionally convert. I'm being SOOC here.

As a photographer, this scares the bejeebers out of me.

I agree having people in the shots really ads to it. Nicely done!

Your third photo can be slightly confusing until one realizes it has been rotated 90degrees counterclockwise. Nice set.

No it has not been rotated. I was shooting up.

Experimenting with different film stocks. This was shot with Kodak UltraMax 400 with my Leica IIIc and 50mm Summicron lens. This isn't my favorite film but it works here I think.

A few more shots from a back alley and of a controversial sculpture in downtown Ashland OR. Like my previous post, this was shot with Kodak Gold 200 which I find to be quite warm, I don't think I'm used to it yet. All shot with my vintage Leica M3 with 50mm collapsible Summicron lens, except for the sculpture image which was I used my 15mm Voigtlander lens. Notice the vignetting. No post on these images, they're all SOOC.

We're experiencing a lot of smoke in southern Oregon. Besides choking the air it enhances the colors. And this is a relatively clear morning taken a few days ago.

I've changed from the Darkroom to a outfit in CA - North Coast Photo. No prepaid mailers, so I 'bulk send' a bunch of rolls as the price is the same for 1 to 20, or whatever fits in the USPS box.

Paul I'm curious why you switched labs. I've been happy with The Darkroom but have looked at North Coast Photo too.

I've been shooting almost exclusively film for a year+. Alas, I haven't been getting the results developed. I usually do a bulk-send to CA for processing, but I just can't get things together to get to the USPS. These Kodak Gold results look very 'clean', even for the shaded light of the final image.

I send my film out to The Darkroom and they always send back a new mailer and all I have to do is drop it in my mailbox. I think there's a 6 roll limit per mailer, but I don't shoot that much at a time $$. To me it's easy though slower than digital LOL. I'm glad you like the shots they're all SOC.

I see there aren't too many recent posts here, but I'd like to keep this section alive. I've been a photographer since high school, going back to the mid to late 60's, shooting b/w on an old Yashica Mat. I later moved on to a Nikon F and Leica M3 and IIIc, shooting and developing my own Tri-X film. I also shot a lot of Kodachrome transparencies. Like most of us, I moved on to digital, about 15 years ago, and thought that I would never look back. Since then I've been shooting with various Nikon DX cameras, and recently with a Sony a6400. I do most of my shooting with the Sony, as I have grown to prefer mirrorless.

However, I still have my Leica and vintage lenses. They've been sitting on my shelf, lonely, and recently calling to me. As I would like to shoot full frame, but being retired now on a limited budget I really can't justify the cost of a new camera and lenses. Given all that, and my yearning to use my Leicas again, and yearning for the nostalgia of analog, and intrigued by the vast variety of films, I dusted off my Leicas, loaded the M3 with Kodak Gold 200, walked around downtown, and took some snaps. Here are some of the first results. More to come.

I'm an old timer who began shooting seriously with an old Yashica-MAT TLR while still in high school back in the mid 60s. My dad was an avid amateur and passed the bug on to me. We had a small darkroom in our basement and I enjoyed developing and making prints with an old Omega enlarger. I continued shooting film for all these years with both Nikons and Leicas (spoiled, I know). I switched to digital about 12 years ago and thought that I would never look back. Then I got caught up in recent nostalgia for analog and decided to shoot film again. Why? I love my old Leica M3, still in good working condition (though a CLA would be good) and the assortment of very fine glass that I have for it and wanted to use them again. All of my digital cameras are crop sensor, which works fine for me, but I wanted to shoot full frame as well. Being retired with a limited income, spending the money for a full frame camera and lenses is a bit out of my sensible reach, so I turned to my 35mm Leica. I'm intrigued by the wide variety of films available. I love working with a totally mechanical camera that doesn't need a battery. There's something about the film quality that I have trouble putting my finger on, just like there is a difference between analog vinyl LPs and CDs. Something 'softer' and 'rounder' about it. The film grain is like the snaps and pops of a vinyl record... it comes with the territory. Most of my photography is still digital. As I post on social media I see digital as the way to go. And the expense and inconvenience of film limits my production. Though when I want to slow down and do something different, I always would prefer film.

Aside from the mystery of the legs, I really like the bw better. The color in its own is very nice, but seeing the well rendered bw along side it to me there is no question. The bw!

From what I've come across, though I can't quote any sources, it's the old Kodacolor, but updated to modern C41. I recently shot a roll. A little warm, but nice.
