Bought a Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 ED VR from an UHH member. Great deal only paid $425 with shipping 2 months ago. Had Achilles’ tendon surgery 2 days after it arrived. Still in a boot, was finally cleared to put weight on ankle this past Tuesday. Anyway got to play a little with it today, hope you like. All hand held, still a little shaky when standing. Probably should have grabbed a tripod, but was afraid the butterfly would fly away. Went outside to ask the wife a question couple hours later, butterfly was still hanging around. LOL

The Glade Creek Grist Mill in West Virginia's Babcock State Park. I had always been there in mid- to late-Autumn, with the brilliant colors in the forest. Last week, I paid my first summer visit and got this view. The creek was full and running fast, so the available angles were a bit limited compared with those at low flow periods. No matter the season, the mill is always a willing subject. Critiques welcomed!

I came very close to buying a mill that looked almost identical to that when I lived in Wales. The plan was to renovate, and live there, but as they say, the best laid plans.... Well it didn't work out for many reasons, and regrets!

Really nicely done. A few little things I'd improve on the interior, but that's just me being picky!

So, my old laptop has died and I'd like to replace it. I'll admit right here that I'm completely computer illiterate, so any help would be much appreciated. To get started, I really don't have a lot of cash to spend, (perhaps around $500 ish). I realize that's not much for a top of the line machine, so I'm happy to look at used/refurbished, and I already have a few places in mind for getting one. My problem is that I really don't know what specs I should be looking for, such as speed, type of processor, OS, memory, brand, and anything else I may have missed. I really know next to nothing about this subject, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help, all the best, and hope you have a great day!

I guess "orange" in IN.

You're fortunate to have such a great location, and it certainly looks like "orange is the new black"! What cycle is it in back? Looks like a cool vintage hill climber.

The bird in the photos has been hanging out on our deck area, hovering around our large windows. At first we thought this was another Goldfinch, but the red on the head threw us. I researched yellow birds in Washington and found out it's a Western Tanager.

We've had a lot of pretty birds around, but this was a new one for us. Has anyone else ever had these around?

You are correct. It is indeed a Western Tanager, nicely captured!

Flowers are beautiful, especially during the summer. I'm trying to capture the essence of its beauty. I would appreciate any and all comments you may have as I make my contribution.

Thank you!

HI chasc, personally I know next to nothing about shooting flowers, but after seeing Dirty Harry's contribution this morning, I'd suggest talking to him! All the best

I humbley stand corrected, although I would think that's the exception rather than the rule. Beautiful car anyway!

nope, flathead gone, and replaced with a small block Chevy with, of all things, 6 carbs

Shame it's not the original mill, but a very nice job with the replacement!

yep, I think we would say, "all original," or "all stock" if a car wasn't modified in any way.

I would imagine that it's virtually impossible to find any '36 automobile that is now "all original"! Anything of that age would probably be falling apart and not running without a bare minimum of some replacement parts.
