People, you have given me so much information of which I had no or little idea about (some incorect ideas also). I'l have to go back to the manual tomorrow and put stickies in the relevant sections regarding your feedback so I can start to experiment. I am so used to the 'Auto' setting I've ignored the power that even my inexpensive little beast has to offer.
G. Brown: Bokeh sounds interesting, but I am a Bonsaist and I can grow trees for several years untill I see the weakness in their structure (or strengths) and too many must fall by the wayside because they will never measure up to be quality trees, hence grow 100 keep one.
Thanks for all of your input I will begin to pay attention to the skill, and abilities of my camera.

If memory serves, 'Auto w/o flash', I don't know what the ISO (is that the speed of shutter?) was.
Thanks for responding.

Thank you. I have had some sort of camera for 50 or so years. I now have a friend that says to really learn to take photographs instead of pics. Well I'm giving it a try. Even bought a book and (sigh) read the .... manual. Maybe there's hope for me if I listen to experienced shooters, like yourself.
Overexposure? Too much light? Is that camera adjustable?
I have an 18 - 55mm lens, and a70 - 300 Ultrasonic.
I know it's a pain talking to nubees, but we learn more from you than books could ever teach us.
Thanks again. I'll look up 'overexposure.'

I was in S. Florida recently and shot a few batteries worth of pics, maybe got 4, 5 worth showing. Is this (photography) like Bonsai? Grow 100, keep one?
This was taken in the back waters North of Everglade City. They posed for me and I didn't have to pay them a cent.
