FA: Can't remember either camera or lense. While I have this podium, notice the "fogginess" around the edges of some of these shots. Must have had an attachment or filter on the lense to give that effect. Why, we will never know ! - JT

Would it have been the old 'smear of vaseline around the lens' trick?

Never, ever apologize for artistic decisions you have made. If someone does not like it, let them produce their own. You are the creator, and some will like, and some will object. That is where the term "objective" comes from. Create without fear!

I certainly never requested or expected an apology, and I never read his reply as an apology. He initially asked for comments and I replied with my opinion and then further explained it, he then replied with an explanation.
I agree that he has no need to apologise for finishing his images in anyway he wants.

Well this treatment does nothing to hide her identity. I’m not sure why I added the oil paint effect. I guess I liked it at the time. I was probably in an effects phase??? At one time everything had to be solarized; then it was sepia. Sometimes I wobble in revolution. You live and learn (or grow up).

I’ll try to post an untreated version. We ask that you kindly bear with us as we find our bearings.

IMO the effect does nothing for the picture, sorry

Can I elaborate please?
IMO the filter should add something to the OPs picture. I don't think it does. From what I can see it's a well posed and framed picture which could possibly would look better without the filter. The OP has already expressed reservations about it, perhaps he could explain why please? Perhaps it's an attempt to disguise the models identity?

You could crop this just above the breast line, into a landscape format and this would still be an excellent picture, the model's face and pose is so relaxed and content. Kudos.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this shot using a w/a lens? If so the photographer did right by keeping the film plane parallel to the model, because tilting the lens would have made her feet look bigger and her head smaller?
Its a technically and artistically good shot. Well done.

plaudits to model and photographer.
The models stance is classic, on tiptoe to accentuate the legs, arms back, stomach in to emphasize and lift the chest, head slightly back, and just enough eye contact...
well done

A pair of pairs (pears) perhaps?
This is possibly your best work so far, both you and your model are building up confidence with the camera, so well done, both of you!

By kind permission of the OP, I've tweaked the outline a bit, plus, also with his permission, here is the result....

And that's the way it should be. Thank you for sharing the picture and the method.
