I agree. third pic is out of focus .when I took all the pics, about 50 or so, I was fiddling between program, aperture and tried a few on manual..which is beyond my level..want to find a good spot to stalk birds as they fly to the pond..also set up few feeders..all good plans, will see how it pans out.

If you really want good photos, you really need to learn how to use the different function settings on the camera. I used an 18-200 lens to capture a really nice BIF of a Peregrine Falcon. Being able to change up settings quickly without fumbling was why. The manual and C settings on my Canon 7DII help me capture those rare moments that come along.
So I would suggest getting the camera manual out, really get to know your cameras setup modes and even take some classes to learn more about light, exposure, composition. Lucky for me, Canon has a learning center with free lectures and classes. I am taking those as much as possible to help me improve the quality of my captures.

Thank you for responding. This sounds pretty much like what I envision doing. I'm just not sure how it's done with a T3i (no automatic download via wifi).

I bought this adapter for my IPad Pro. Works great, just put in a card, plug it in and the Ipad photo import screen comes up. From Amazon at $20.

Thank you for your reply. The cf card I have ( Lexar cf 1066) does work better than the 800 that I had previously. My question now is if one C Fast card from any particular mfg over another shows the same type of improvement.

Hard to say for sure but Scandisk and Lexar seem to dominate the field. I put the Lexar 1066 chip in my 7DII and a wireless chip in the SD slot. I bought another Lexar as backup. Just in case I want to shoot some video. The wireless downloads to computer and iPad work really well with the Canon app. I have reformatted several times and the Lexar still performs well. I will be staying with those 2 name brands.

Great photo, thanks for letting me see what I missed. We were just there less than a month ago, great scenery but very little color.

The winter rain livens things up a bit.

This week I find myself in need of a CFast card. I have been shooting with a Lexar CF 1066 with good success on other bodies and can make do with that for the moment but would like to take full advantage of the new camera. I know nothing about these new cards but in the back of my mind I seem to remember reading that there was a problem when they first came out. Any info would be appreciated.

You will want the one with the fastest transfer rate.
Scandisk Extreme has a 32 gb with 120 mb/s transfer. The Lexar CF 1066 has a 64 gb with 160 mb/s transfer rate card. That is probably the same as yours. The transfer rate affects video the most, single shots not as much.
Either card should do you well enough.

These were taken with my first digital SLR, a Nikon D100 not a Nikon 850.

Nice photos. We too have been up the Arm. Both south and north faces of the Sawyer plus a trip down the Endicott Arm on the south side of Holkham Bay. We take that small boat cruise every few years just because we love the scenery so much. That and the service you get on the 100 ft boat is incredible. The photos from those trips always make me smile.
