Thanks for the info. Question..how much deterioration is there when using a tele-converter?
There have been several suggestions to view the You Tube videos which I plan on doing. I got word B&H shipped the camera yesterday so I hope to see it soon.
Thanks.
Larry...I'm an ex-Detroiter since 1991 but spent 43 years there. I'm back frequently on business and to see family. One of these days when I figure out what I'm doing the camera maybe we can get together.
Thanks for your response.

Thanks to all the great information from the UHH community, my thoughts of just getting an SX50 HS was sidetracked. Reading everyones thoughts comparing the three camera's it came down to: SX50 HS, FZ70 and FZ200, the one thing the comments that hit home were the ones that suggested holding the cameras for comfort. I found the SX50 a bit small for my hand while the FZ200 seemed to have more space to grip..although it is a bit larger. OK. So I won't have a 1200mm zoom. I'll get closer to the subject--unless its the moon and that could be problematic. I'm not a bird watcher unless its in my backyard and I wont need 1200 for that! Grandkids, travel, family, usual stuff. Probably will experiment with landscapes or other things as I see fit. The good news is that the cot isn't breaking the bank and this will give me what I believe is a wonderful learning tool.
Anyway, thanks for all the reading pleasure. You folks know your stuff. I weighed things out as carefully as I could and pulled the trigger. Camera is coming next week so be ready to see some pretty awful stuff for critique. As a relative newbie to digital (I have vast experience with p&S and phones!) I'm looking forward to making myself a better photographer with the help of the UHH'ers.
Im putting it on my list!! Thankss
Thank you Basil. It seems the SX50 is really popular. I will definitely look into the Sony
Thank you. I will definitely look into the Lumix. I'm more interested in what the camera can offer me than who makes it.
OK. Can of worms time. Before I jump into a upscale DSLR I want to get my feet with a good bridge camera and really get a good feel for the digital world. I was using a Nikon P7700 on loan from a friend but had to return it. My picture taking will consist of grandkids (much of it indoor), family functions, vacations, and some nature photography. Suggestions id $300-$600 range? All comments welcome!!
Yeow...I'm just getting into digital photography...enjoying the learning curve. Out of curiosity and maybe ignorance, aren't there lenses that can do almost as well for a lot less money? I was hoping this would be an affordable hobby!
my first post so if anything sound ignorant please excuse me...i'll get better. After many years using a film camera I finally joined the digital world and am learning it as quickly as I can. A friend convinced me to purchase a nikon P7700 which kind of does what I need it to. As I read the UHH posts every day I notice that when bridge cameras are talked about the Canon SX50 HS is most often mentioned. How does this compare to the Nikon and should I think about switching. I use the camera for family gatherings, grandkids and vacations but will probably expand this summer into some nature photography (will need longer tele?) as we have just purchased a house in Michigan (not a lot of nature in Chicago). i aslo read where there may be a new SX60 coming out? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
Hello UHH. Been reading the posts for a couple of months and have thoroughly enjoyed the posts. My photography revolves around family events, grandkids, vacations. Nothing professional or blown up wall sized. Looking ofrward to being part of this group.
Hello all. Been following UHH for several weeks and have finally gotten around to registering. I'm just getting back into photography and getting used to the digital world so I will be asking questions. Have a Nikon P7700 and a Samsung NX200 with 2 kit lenses that was given to me. Still trying to figure them out but its coming....slooooowly. Looking forward to being part of this very informative and entertaining group.
