Buy a Mat Cutter and cut your own to what ever size you want; it isn't hard to learn & soon the money saved will pay for the cutter system; you don't need the top of the line either.

As I understand the .jpeg loss of data, it only happens when you open and then re-save it; if it is just opened and closed, it does not deteriorate. Most all good photo editing programs tell you to make a copy of the original to work on and save the original untouched.

Having lived in MA for 32 years and most of that with Kerry as a Rep or Senator, he doesn't rate very high on my score sheet. He must have been playing hookey of the day that his Basic Naval Officers' course included the session on Respect. All Army Officers, and I'm sure the Navy has a similar session, are taught that Respect is never given, it is earned. IMHO he has not earned it!

One of the episodes in the book includes the refusal of a Navy doctor to put him in for a purple heart for a scratch that the doc told him wasn't as bad as some he (the doc) had gotten from his rose garden back home.

Remember that this is the same Lieutenant Ketty who came home from Viet Nam only to...

1. protest the unwarranted killing of civilians (collateral damage) by the troops probably including his sailors

2. got himself elected to Congress from MA and proceed to do nothing for 20 years, and only re-visited his constituent territory when there was an election pending.

3. Purchased two expensive boats and registered them in RI to escape paying MA Sales taxes, but kept them moored off his Vinyard home in MA. He finally got caught on the second boat that had a purchase cost of several million dollars, and agreed to pay the tax , but only after negotiating a several hundred thousand dollar reduction in the amount due. Do you think that sounds of "good deal for me, but not for you" politics?

4. Ran for President only to have members of his Viet-Nam command publish the book "Unfit for Command" about his activities in command and his Purple Hearts to which he wasn't really entitled.

5. Now that he's Secy. of State he's hell bent to bomb something in Syria collateral damage be dammed  and probably get us entangled in another fight that we should have learned by now isn't our fight, is too late and we should avoid!

As has been sad several times, you can't fix OOF, but if you have cropped the photo and still have the original, you might try not cropping as close. It won't fix it, but the focus might not be as noticable.

What is all the white just astern from the deck level to the water surface? It's too high to be exhaust and the wrong color to be blige water, and the seas don't appear high enough for it to be deck runoff?

Paul,

OK, I understand, but I've cleaned enough of their deposits of decks, teak, sail covers, dinghys, docks & ramps, etc. over 60+ years that they ain't my favorite flying critters.

If the SX50 has any plastic, I'd be very hesitant to use lacquer thinner; that stuff will eat the A _ _ out of a skunk and many plastics!

Nice shot of the boats--looks like the first leg of a race, but why not crop out the gulls? The boats would show up larger and the picture more appreciated by sailors who mostly don't like gulls--the damn things eat, or at least deposit, cement !

If you haven't emptied the "Trash Bin" since you made the deletion, you may be able to recover them.

The pictures were actually in the Pictures Folder of the computer if you are using a Windows system; not sure what Apple calls it.

Since pine tar is the substance from which turpentine is distilled, for really stubborn deposits, try a soft rag dampened with turps, but don't make it so wet that it drips. Us a finger to rub the pitch (rub easily) and it should soften; if it's a blob, on some black part, especially if grooved, you might use a tooth pick to get it out of the grooves.

When done any residual turpentine can be cleaned with a mild detergent.

Good Luck

Download "Photosizer"; make a duplicate of the original and when you start the program & you tell it to get a photo, it will give you the original size and ask what size you want to change it to.

Photosizer is FREE and easier to use than PS or PSE's "resizers".

It keeps it out of sight, secure, and prevents it from getting 120-150 Deg F when the car sits in the summer sun :XD:

I have found that a foam cooler similar to what online meat sales companies use to ship steaks (and no, I didn't buy them they were gifts) work better than larger coolers--less room for the camera to get tossed around in case of a hard turn or sudden stop. The foam is usually about 1 1/2" thick and the tops fit snug, put some old towels in to fill up the empty space it is is too big.
