The Leica CL and the Leitz/Minolta CL ,(virtually the same camera) had focusing cams that were a little different. A higher rise or something like that. The normal focal length was 40mm and a 90mm was available. The lenses for the Leitz/ Minolta versions were Rokkors. The Minolta CLE lenses had cams that were like the regular M Leicas. A friend of mine has the 28mm Rokkor for the CLE. A fine Optic. Any of these will work.

That could be a drawback. Some institutions don't have the funds to properly accession or catalog donations.

The family photos, once you have decent scans made from them
should be made into archival carbon pigment prints. Obviously, the choice of which of them that you deem valuable is yours.
Perhaps a local historical society would like the WWII photos, a library perhaps. I don't know where you are from but in Cleveland Oh. is The Western Reserve Historical Society. They have a huge photo collection mainly pertaining to N.E. Ohio. Subjects.
I would look to Google to find possible venues.

Older flashes have much higher trigger voltages than strobes made for your Canon. I think the Canon's trigger voltage is only about 5 volts. I have a Sunpak 422 and I think the voltage is 11.85 volts.I also have a Sunpak 383. The trigger voltage is 7.2 volts. The Wein unit reduces the voltage. A Friend of mine uses one one his Nikon D70 with an old Photogenic studio power pack. I would go on Google and see if you could find a site that would have the trigger voltage ratings fo various makes of strobes. You don't want to have a fried camera!.

I remember that the first Zeiss 15mm was co developed with Asahi Optical. I remember having read this in a controlled circulation magazine in the late 70's or early80's. I believe the magazine then was called "Photo Methods for Industry" later changed to "Photo Methods". There was also a similar magazine
called "Industrial Photography". It was also branded as a Leitz optic for the SL/ R system SLRs. I realize that the optic being discussed is a different lens. But I am at a certain age that arcane things such as this just surface from the deepest corners of my psyche.
It can be a blessing or a curse :-)

Where I used to work for 21 years, had one in an Exacta mount.
Ironically, when the Exacta's gave up the geist,it was then used on a Minolta w/ an adapter. Later on we got a Minolta Macro lens mainly for copy work. The previous replies to your inquiry should be helpful to you. If I remember, optically it was OK.
Did anybody suggest KEH?.

A friend of mine told me that the kit lens that came with his Nikon D90 fell apart in his hands. An atypical occurrence perhaps?.

The Minolta XE-7 was the basis for the Leica R3. The body, shutter (referred to as the Leitz -Copal shutter) and the film advance were the same in both cameras. The Leica R3 had a different mirror box and lens mount. The XE-7 had a black paint finish and the R3 had a black chrome finish. I owned an R3 because the school system that I once worked for had an XE-7.
That sold me on the more expensive R3. I had "Leica fever" at that time. I'm sure the 50mm lens will be OK.

Polarizing the lights and the lens works very well.
