Love this set of beautiful birds and the shot of the cute squirrel. Nice work, Bruce.

#1 is solid ........... the rest ... hummm, not a big fan of filters, incorrect white balance or over saturation but that's me some my find it to their taste .......... but #1, though the white balance seems to be a tad off it is very nice!

Since these were photographed 8.5X11 pictures, I was pleased with the results. They were originally slides. Thanks for looking, Beercat.

I love that pine on Sentinal Dome! I remember it still green & alive in my youth! Then I had my whole family perched in it as an adult after it died. VERY picturesque ! I miss it...I wonder if I can find my pics of it...might be a 35mm slide though.

I hope you find your slides. I had the pleasure of photographing that wonder on 3 different occasions. I had my slides converted. You probably know this tree was photographed by Ansel Adams. I was sad to learn the elements destroyed it several years ago. If you ever find your slide and convert it, I'd like to see your family perched on it. Thanks for viewing my post and telling me about your memory, Mustanger.

love that tree in the first one, Annie, a real beauty

That picturesque tree has been photographed by Ansel Adams. It was a hard climb to reach the top of Sentinel Dome but worth every step. Even in death it was beautiful. Thanks so much for your nice comment, oldtigger!

So, thank you all again for your advice on bird photography a few days ago. I went out this morning and tried again. Unfortunately, the rookery I went to was roadside and surrounded by fencing, so I still had to crop quite a bit. Most of the pictures were of a mating pair that I had clear shot of. I "attempted" to take some herons in flight and I got about 2 pictures out of 20 which were ok. My sky was still pretty white in spite of my focusing on the bird. I shot mostly at 480-600mm, ISO 250, f 6.3. and had to lighten up some in PS. The light meter on my camera read "0" Is my not getting a more blurred backround due to the distance, and would using a teleconverter help? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Fran

My wife and I had heard about the migration for years and this was the year we finally took the road trip to see it in person.

An impressive set, Jim. My daughter and I have enjoyed shooting these marvelous birds in Greenville, Mi, but we've never seen such a large number. Nice work capturing these and thanks for sharing.

Not as exciting as your majestic eagles, Randy, but still a perfect capture of the cheerful robin, a harbinger of spring.
