Living near the coast of Maine, I know it isn't easy to get a really good lighthouse picture that isn't already done or just plain tacky. You have succeeded in getting a very good shot.
To Hunter Lou and Dick C, when it comes to politics, stupidity is definitely a non-partisan concept.
Marc, what store do you use. I don't get to downtown Portland often and always thought Hunt's was the only game in town. They treat me well but I'd appreciate some variety.
And I'm sure there's more where these came from.
A very fascinating picture. I'd like to know more about that technique.
The second shot (6:34PM) would be my favorite. Great foreground detail.
I've been to that one, as well as Bug Light. I love the challenge of trying to get a good unique shot of something that millions of people have already photographed. So I do a lot of lighthouses. I'm still new to "The Hog" and have yet to post any photos, but when I do it will most likely be lighthouses. The Nubble Light in York would be my "home" lighthouse. I grew up just one town inland from there.
Thanks for your response and good luck with your photo endeavors. I'll be looking for ya.
Just out of curiosity, where were you when this incident occurred. Wondering if it's a place I have frequented, Fort Williams Park, maybe?
When I go out to my favorite shooting spot I almost always end up having a nice conversation with a fellow photographer or two, but I'll keep an eye out for this jerk. I hope you and I might meet up some day. I'll show you the new MePhoto tripod I just bought.
That is my kind of picture!
Lighthouses are one of my favorite subjects. The only complaint I would have about all 3 pictures is that I didn't take them. I'm partial to the first 2, mainly because the foregrounds are stronger. Nice shots!
I tend to not take pictures of people but when I do I use that approach. Maybe I should try to do it more often.
