Based on my own experience I would recommend a 4-5" APO on the best mount you can afford. Check out: ASTROMART and CLOUDY NIGHTS web sites for astro imaging for sale items. Excellent resources.

Lived in Coarsegold for a few years. My friend and I rode our motorcycles on many of the country roads in this area. One of my favorite stops was Hornitos. The bar we stopped at was owned an operated by a old Portuguese lady. She was quite a character. Seems that her husband lured her to the "land of gold and honey" from the old country with promises of a life of leisure. According to her she has been working her a** of ever since! The bar looked like an 1850's saloon with a very ornate mirror and chery wood decoration. It was quite large covering most of the bar wall. She said it was brought around Cape Horn in a square rigger in the 1850's. This has to do with photography but it brought back some very pleasant memories.
