One problem I noticed is the power line all the way through the good part of the sky. If you have editing software, such as Photoshop, you could try deleting it. However, I have found it difficult to erase long lines without leaving a tell tale uneven sky (anyone have any ideas on erasing long lines like power wires?)
Next time you encounter power lines like this in an otherwise good photo op, see if by moving your location you can avoid these lines. In the subject case, maybe by moving closer and shooting at ground level the wires would have been above the portion of the sky you wanted in your photo.

Off the top of my head, I'd say that version is more reasonable. But not having actually been there at that point in time, I'm only guessing that this version is more like what actually was observed.
Comparing the before and after, it does seem that you might have "over remembered" that glow, as we've all done from time to time! Altho I remember one time at our local camera club meeting when a member questioned a fall foliage pic I'd taken when I used to live in Connecticut. I now live in Illinois, and I tried to explain that the colors back east are simply more brilliant than most of what one finds in the midwest. But even so, it was an old slide that I had scanned, and maybe I also "over remembered" that scene just a bit myself!
Unfortunately we see so many pix these days that have been greatly edited with Photoshop or whatever, that we get suspicious at every pic we see that looks at all brilliant. This one could be just as the photographer saw it; we just don't know looking at it at face value.
Here goes the second one.
Well, I'll be darned - it did work! Now I'll see if I can be successful with the other one.
I wanted to post a couple of similar dandelion pix i took last year, but couldn't get it to work. I found the pix files ok, and they are labeled Jpeg, but I tried both to copy them and to highlight them and hit "open" (which works in sending pix via email), but didn't work for me here. What am I doing wrong?
I think of dandelions as not being very pretty once they've gone to seed, but your pic shows that indeed that is not the case!
Erv: Good point - as is said there's more than one way to skin a cat! (Now I have to wonder: who invented that expression anyway????!!!!)

Certainly an improvement color wise, but to me anyway, it now seems the water will drain out to the right!
