That report of the wolves is not accurate at all, the wolves did not do much of anything reported in this very beautiful but misleading video. I live in Montana near the park and much of what the video indicated is just wrong! Remember Yellowstone had huge fires years ago and the area is just now recovering. Shame on the environmentalists.

We are also taking a trip to Alaska next week, 7 days land adventure & 7 days on a cruise, inside passage. I also have questions about what lens to take with me. Never been to Alaska & don't know what to expect.

I will be using a 7D Canon. Have 2 kit lens - 18 - 135 & 70 - 300. A 10 - 22, 17 - 55 and a Tamron 150 - 600.

Thinking about taking the 150 - 600, the 10 - 22, the 17 55 ... not sure if the 70 - 300 & the 18 - 135 will be necessary. I always seem to bring too many lens when traveling. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply, good to hear you are enjoying the lens. There has been so much talk about this lens and various problems (auto focus & the 7D) that I am a little concerned. Guess I'll take the positive position & hope for the best. The lens is supposed to be delivered tomorrow - excited!

I contacted Tamron via email - I asked about the problems with the 150 - 600 lens, below is my question and below that Tamron's response ... I don't think they answered my question.

I use a Canon DSLR EOS 7D. I ordered a Tamron 150 – 600 mm lens several months ago … B&H has informed me the lens has finally arrived & they are shipping it. My question … there is rumor going around that this lens had some problems with it and that’s one of the reasons it was taking so long to deliver … is the lens that is being shipped me had all the updates & fixes that are known to date?? I was informed that there was some sort of problem specifically related to the Canon 7D. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hello Tom,

Thank you for contacting Tamron. We have not seen any issues with the Canon 7D and this lens. Actually, we did our own testing here with the 7D and found that it worked properly. We also compared the lens with a Canon equivalent and didn't see any differences. It's true that some camera bodies track better than others but we didn't see issues with any bodies. Naturally, shooting birds at 600mm F6.3 is not an easy thing to do and I think some users may just not be used to shooting at this long focal length and F stop.

Some of our photographers have been shooting birds in flight with this lens so I think we may have some of these images posted on our web site soon.

If you have any questions please ask.

Kind regards,

I was just notified 3 days ago that B&H has my Tamron 150 - 600mm lens and it has been shipped, I assume that the lens will be with all the updated fixes? ... had to wait several months for the lens

anyone else having problems with their browser being re-routed?(my term) Just a couple minutes ago I clicked on a subject and my browser was re-router to a commercial for some type on music. Also a window opened at top of my screen with another ad with fairly loud audio. Only happens when I am in UHH

I am over 60 and not shy about admitting that I do quite a bit of PP. I am working on getting better at getting it right in camera but I will most likely do PP on most all photos. I kind of admire those who resolutely refuse to do any PP, it's just not the way I work.

Tom from Helena, MT. I have been enjoying UHH for a few weeks now, impressed with the photos, find the photography information interesting and helpful, the banter sometimes intense and emotional and the technical information very valuable. A very interesting forum - thanks
