Until this past 2011 Christmas I didn't even know my great niece, Corrin, existed. I don't see my sister all that often, and didn't know this granddaughter of hers, either. My sister was showing me some photos taken with her cell phone, and I commented I thought they were superb photos, and I asked who took them. Sis said, when my granddaughter is visiting me, she pesters and begs me to lend her my phone camera, because she doesn't have a camera of her own. After 15 minutes of pursing this 11 year old girl's photos, I knew without doubt I was seeing the world through the eyes of an exceptionally gifted young photographer. I went Home, less than a quarter mile down the road and came back with a good digital camera I no longer needed (a Canon Rebel S5-IS) and told my sis, give Corrin this camera. It's in brand-new condition, everything she needs is in the original box. I even put an 8GIG card in it.

Two weeks ago I saw great niece, Corrin, for the first time. She's a tall, shy, serious girl, with intelligent eyes. With her "new" camera dangling from one shoulder, she greeted me with a shy smile as she thanked me for the camera. Since Christmas she'd already taken over 1,200 photos. With Corrin's permission, I copied about 100 of her better photos off to my laptop, and will now begin sharing them with other Hedgehog members. When I tried to explain to Corrin why this or that photo was such an excellent shot, so perfectly composed, she didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Her gifted mind's eye sees what most of the rest of us have to struggle years to learn, and still have problems understanding.
