The Hooded Warbler is strongly territorial on its wintering grounds. Males and females use different habitats: males in mature forest, and females in scrubbier forest and seasonally flooded areas. If a male is removed, a female in adjacent scrub will not move into the male's territory.
The oldest recorded Hooded Warbler was a male, and at least 8 years, 1 month old when he was recaptured and rereleased during banding operations in Louisiana in 2004.

These are from our recent visit - the Water Lilies were in full bloom !

We were fortunate that after lunch a shower came through and left water drops everywhere !

Sony A77II with Sigma 100-300 and Tokina 100mm macro all from monopod except one from tripod.

All I can say about these beauties is I ❤️ all of them, Larry!

The first two are one of the most common weeds - dandelions. These have gone to seed. That close-up is awesome. Nice captures, Believe.

Sorry Annie late response: Looking up at the ceiling in a monastery in Tuscany there was a smallish round window letting light through onto a beam.....it was one of those photo's we all take not knowing what the end result will be...

Thank you, Kevin. That satisfied my curiosity. It's nice to get a surprise when you take a shot at some thing different. Have a wonderful day!😊

We usually travel 300 miles to get pictures of this species. I walked out to my back yard and found this pair feeding.

What a nice surprise! Excellent capture of the handsome couple. A very pleasing image. Is your handle Dee?

Pretty little bird, Carol, and you did a great job capturing it. I especially like the images where the warbler is framed by the tree branch.

Had a few beautiful days in Yosemite, nice weather, a bid crowded already, lots of backwards photographers taking selfies facing the wrong direction, lol. After going there for the last 50 years I am sure this was my last trip, at 87 there are not many next years left, actually my grandson was suppose to drive me but he got called away on a job so I drove by myself just as I did on most visits before.

I've enjoyed the beauty of Yosemite on a few visits. You did a marvelous job capturing its scenic splendor in various angles. I ❤️ these, Mike.
