The last two - The color of the sky is so good!

That's good for the moon David. But I doubt it's a good setting for the valley that time of the night.
Went back up to Hurricane Ridge last night and took some moon pics in between a couple of star trails and this was about the best. It's 1/4 of a second at f4.3 iso 100. I came back a little later and did a shot at 2.5 seconds f10 iso100 and the camera couldn't hold the detail in the moon.
I have a graduated filter on the way from B&H. Here's the two shots.

Thanks Lucas...

The sun was so bright on last Saturday...So I stacked 2 ND filters (-3 + -6 = -9 stops) for the 6s exposure time.

Beautiful shot! The composition is gorgeous and the long exposure makes this violent rush of water look heavenly... You got the time of day just right, too. The lighting is perfect to me. Great job!

Amen Linda,

Last weekend I went to Tullulah Falls Gorge and took a bunch of pictures. When I showed them to a fellow photographer which he has 27 inches DELL monitor with high resolution. He zoomed in and checked every rocks, bushes,... looking exposure, sharpness of each objects. Wow...To me it is kind of over-killed in examining or judging a picture.

Where are composition, emotion, movement, curve, shapes, colors,.... factors involved here in judging a picture?

The SX50 likes bright sunlight, good contrast, and close subjects. If you also have trouble with movement, perhaps use a tripod.

There are plenty of "tack-sharp" shots that are boring, uninspired compositions. For me, the emotion, creativity and art of an image always trumps pixel peeping.
