Here is a collection of Osprey shots from 2013. I had good shooting through out the late 2000's to 2018 and then we had eleven inches to much rain in 2019 and the river filled up like a bathtub because of climate change and the Ospreys went else ware.

Maggie Marsh this time of year?

Magee Marsh has two active eagle nests. One is refereed to as the east nest. You see this nest has you drive into the area. The other nest is accessible from the parking lot. The parking lot nest has eggs in it now. The east nest has run several weeks behind the parking lot nest in egg production in the past.

Magee Marsh has two active eagle nests. One is the east nest you see when you drive in and the other is in the parking lot area. The parking lot nest has eggs since the eagle is sitting on them. The east nest is several weeks behind the parking lot nest as egg production goes. So I sit in front of the east nest and wait for the action to start up.

Not bad, not bad at all. Great shots and with a D3 no less. Very impressive! Really great!

They were shot using my 600mmF:4G VR lens on a clear blue sky day

The first three images were shot using my 600mmF:4g VR and a D810. The remainder of the shots were made with the 600mmF:4 G VR, but with a 11 year old D3.

Shutter speed? Try hand holding? Personally I don't like center columns on a tripod. How do you like the fluid as a gimbal replacement. Anyway , I hope it works out.

Here is a shot of me and my GT 3556SGT Gitzo tripod which goes up 9'-4" so I shoot birds over the fence and NOT thru a window.

I also downloaded DeNoise a couple of days ago. My experience has been incident-free so far -- I'm not trying to use it as a plug-in, FWIW -- but I clicked through from the Community/Forum/Topaz products menu item and saw there were a lot of comments about users having such issues. I didn't read through them all. You might take a look there and see if the fix you need is posted. The URL is https://community.topazlabs.com/c/topaz-products

Nothing was in the URL that spoke to my problem. It shows what a mickey mouse operation Topaz is with no company support coming. I will spend time searching today, the net for a phone number for them.

Most email engines have an option to send an email with a delivered or opened/read receipt so that you get a notice back when the recipient has read the mail. That way you know if they got it and are just ignoring you. Google if/how to do it with your particular email program for instructions. I think both hotmail and google mail at least have this feature.

I downloaded topaz denoise 2 days ago. I moved the preview box to the birds eye and I get this dialog with click of the mouse-The procedure entrypointcommonQueuewithproperties could not be located in the dynamic link library openCL.dll- I've email them 2 days ago with this and still no response. So I'll wait until the trail times out then I'll delete it. I am so tired of these companies that provide zero support for their products. They have lost me as a customer.

Any recommendations for a good quality pair of gloves that allow easy functionality of the camera buttons and dials for shooting in winter? Please avoid sending links - I am looking for recommendations from UHH folks who have used these personally and liked.

This year at Lock & Dam 14 where temps were around -1 deg some days and always a cold breeze I used the Heat Company heat gloves and they worked wonderfully. I got mine from Naturescapes.net

Larry great action shot. Is this a good week for Lock and Dam 14?

I would contact a local photo person because it was slow for us on Jan16 thru Jan 19th with the exception of two or three action sequences. I would call the local wildlife folks also.

With the sequence coming at me very fast I missed moving the big lens on two shots but I was able to recreate the shot using photoshop CS6 and free transform.

At Lock and Dam 14 on the Mississippi River in Iowa.

It was very slow this year with dam construction and warmish weather. On our 2nd day another photographer brought some fish with him. This is the only sequence I got in 3 days of shooting. When eagles were not around Common Mergansers were. The last two images are from the wild sequence I had shown the other day. One is the actual image and the last image is after 2 days of photoshop CS6 work. This is the first time I've tried this kind of work.

I went to Costa Rico a few years ago. One evening we took a walk into the woods. The guide was hired by the tour (trip)operator. I found Leafcutter Ants on my own. When the walk in the wood ended we were asked tip him $20. He was hired by the tour (trip) operator and was paid by the tour (trip) operator so why the tipping? This also happened on a bear photo trip to Kodiak Alaska. So I don't do photo touring anymore. Its gotten way beyond my ability to pay so I concentrate on images closer to home.

Nice birds; still looking for the lock and the dam.

Since I'm in Toledo we take I80 west. We drive clear across Indiana, Illinois and exit I80 west on the first exit into Iowa and across the Mississippi River. You have to dress for the cold. I have a Red Head snow suit that is wind and water proof, Mickey Mouse boots and Heat Company heat gloves and I'm as warm as a bug in a rug at temps -1deg and lower. Or just Google Lock & Dam 14 pictures.
