THANKS MT Shooter. In checking your first suggestion I found the smaller Kirk head BH3 and may just go with that and be done. More than I want to spend but should not have to do it again.....

Have Sirui on a Vanguard, works GREAT on my camera body and on my big zoom tripod bases

Which model do you have? I'm looking to upgrade to full frame next year from my D7000 and don't want to short spend now and do it all again in a year.....

I thought about the Wimberly(sp?) option and broke an allen wrench trying to remove the quick release on the 3055. I was looking around and found the Manfrotto 054 with the Q5 is that Arca compatible?

I have a Bogen 3221 with a 3055 ball head and am looking to replace the ball head with head with a Arca Swiss compatible quick release. I need the Arca quick release as it is compatible with my Carry Speed strap that attaches to the tripod socket. I have been checking on the web and a company called Sirui keeps coming up. Anyone used these? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have carried a Bogen 3221 around for years with the same complaint. The carry straps/bags did not quite cut it for me. I got a Lowepro Vertex 200 AW and it holds my Bogen 3221 in a pocket that attaches to the back. The pocket comes off if I do not want to carry the tripod and the multiple straps keep it secure. It works really well with this big tripod.

Try B&H and Adorama both out of NYC for used equipment. I have bought most of my equipment from one or the other most new but some used. I like Sigma and have a 21-35 and a 400 and love both. I'm drooling over an 800 but it is not currently in the budget. Have fun with whatever you get

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R2880. have tried other papers Kirkland, HP and others and keep coming back to Epson paper( Photo Paper Glossy sheets and Premium Glossy Roll). As others have said get the ICC profile and I also let LR do the color management. I only use Epson ink but don't always buy from epson. They send emails with deals and you can save 10 to 15% and reduced/free shipping. There is a company called Atlex(atlex.com)in IL. Their prices are always >10% less and sometimes they have shipping deals. I watch both and buy at the best price not always when I need it. Today Atlex has 15% off epson paper.

The point of suggesting you look at Moose Peterson's website is that technique is more important than which of two equivalent cameras to choose. When you are looking at cameras that are equal technique will determine the difference whether you are using point and shoot or pro level gear. Pick the one that feels best in your hands and have a great time.
I can't belive it either, a life long Nikon guy saying a Canon is as good......

I have the same setup. Make sure the VR is off when you put it on your tripod. Tripod should be STURDY. I also found I was not as stable as I thought and raised shutter speeds and saw improvement.
