...you guys need to trot out some hard stats. I know what it's like to be "logical" and come up with reasonable assumptions...then I took training in journalism. Oh, and even "hard" stats are often skewed one way or the other...easy to do. FWIW, I'm into the freedom thing, but certainly would back responsible behavior regarding weapons of all types...even backyard swimming pools.
But the point is that when I decide not to up pay the service fee it is not cheap it just looks as though it is when you look at the monthly payment, if you use the software for 3-5 years where is the saving, and they will defiantly raise that price at a inopportune time then if you do not pay you have nothing and have to invest in another program, right now they are sucking as many folks as they can in and you bet they have a date set to raise the price with some excuse as to cost efficiency. Nope sorry wont get roped in.
But the point is that when I decide not to up pay ... (show quote)
...well, the cost *is* low, to me, anyway...and I bought PS years ago and have been paying for upgrades all the way...LR is cheaper, of course, but ya got to bump the till every year nonetheless...I just discontinued the DVD part of my Netflix bill and that covered it pretty much. But for me, and I'm a heavy user of LR and love the interaction 'tween the two, it was a no brainer...especially after crunching the numbers. Hey...to each...
...you don't have to use the "Cloud" service for backup, yanno. Then the service just becomes *timely*...and low cost...upgrades to software you've downloaded and installed in your 'puter. I'm just in it for the software, even though Cloud backup is no doubt tons more secure than where I store my data now...
For the life of me I cannot find how to upgrade from CS5 to CS6 for Mac. I can't even find out what the cost would be. Has anyone done this and if so how?
CC is easy to do and you save mucho bux over time. I have both Mac and Windows and both went down without a problem. Now, I already had PS 6 installed, but it's a simple download issue as far as I can see. There is a PS 7 on the horizon...another hunk of money for you to save when you go CC...
...I've been buying PS updates since PS 2 and plan on using PS heavily for the foreseeable future. 10 bux a month is a pittance in comparison to my previous expenses, not to mention the Lightroom side of things (of which I am also a power user). I love the way both interact...so I just cut the DVD half of my Netflix bill and pointed it towards Adobe.
...generally agree. I do own an S4 and, if you're careful and adhere to simple photoshooting principles, the phonecam will do OK for you. It's slow, though, and very limited control-wise. That said, this one was done with an iphone a couple of years ago:
Aspect ratios is the correct term. Couldn't think of it at the time.
...I'm doing some printing, and for this, changing aspect ratio is a must for me. I've fallen in love with the 8x24 look...it just seems to me we're in a prison of sorts, imposed by someone designing the initial 35mm SLR's, that is so ubiquitous as to be boring. The sameness of 2x3 is easily changed, however, with today's equipment and post-processing options (not that you couldn't do it pre-digital...it's just alot easier). My D800 allows for a high density pixel count that is ultimately croppable...and even my newer D4 gives me enough room...both of these bodies allow me to engage a crop factor feature, too, but that's not the point. Aspect ratio is what it's all about.
...recently had opportunity to tether through LR on my laptop. I've done this before, but it's rare, so far, that I do an inside studio-type shoot. First; has anyone been able to use Live View whilst tethering? So as to make lighting adjustments before clicking the shutter? I was in a bind for time so didn't get to experiment. Second; I was kinda shocked that the files were not written to my camera's card!? Using a D800. Any thoughts?
...I started using Lexar cards many moons ago but lately have been turned-on to Delkin. I've been using a 64 GB 1000x Delkin card for over a year with great results (read: it has not failed)...also a 32 GB Delkin in my bag and used alot with same results. Big cards work, but it's nice having dual-card bodies too. ;)
You're quite welcome. After you've removed all soap residue and the print is dry, I'd recommend spraying on a clear-coat (check an art supply store).
...been experimenting with 'coats...doing some framing and mounting and foolin' around with canvas...Breathing Color products are very good, but Hahnamuhle spray is really good too...what do you use?
If you don't have print heads on your print, use a mild solution of dish detergent and warm water, wiping gently with a lint-free cloth dampened in the solution. More information here: http://dspace.udel.edu/handle/19716/4376
I bought a D700 when it came out and loved it big...then got a D800 and had a great backup...when I got my D4 I finally sold my 700 to a photo-buddy who is ecstatic with his "new" camera. Stick with the full frame combo, you can't go wrong.
