I'm well into my 70s and have never liked tattoos. I grew up in Brooklyn and that's where only for the badasses. I never saw a girl with a tat until the 70s when in Florida the topless dancers were covered with them, so the thought was you needed to be a slut to cover yourself with them. Most of the dancers were also whores flaunting their wares. But today I'm seeing a change I see lots of actors removing their tats, Male and female. Jobs where your tats might be exposed could keep you on unemployment. Disneyworld will not hire anyone with an exposed tat or piercing, why, the persona linked to it. I shot several nudes but mine are usually bodyscapes so most of body in shadows but in the event a model had a tat and might appear in a shot I frowned upon it. I worked for DDB Worlwide, one of the largest Advertising agency's in the world and never did a model show up for a shoot bearing a tatoo

Sorry, no nude pics! LoL
I've been pretty surprised at how many have expressed a strong dislike of tattoos on women. Is that all women or just models?
Personally I think tattoos look beautiful, especially on a beautiful woman. But like all art, there is art that we like and art that we don't.
What's been implied by some is that it doesn't matter the tattoos, that they are not acceptable at all by some. That a woman must be inherently stupid to get a tattoo. My doctor is a womon and has a few tattoos(at least that I can see).
One of my goals is to start shooting Suicide Girls, simply because I love the look! One of my favorite Models is Leah Jung, and would love to shoot her some day!
So what is it that you don't like, or DO like about tattoos on models or women in general. What about on men?
Feel free to post some examples either way.
It's a brave new world out there.

It's like painting over the Mona Lisa, a beautiful woman isn't any more beautiful by covering herself with a brand.

I never had a problem keeping batteries in my cameras, these are all hi end Nicad batteries used in my Nikons, Kodak and Leicas each costing over $100 and have never had a leak or failure.

Sorry Lithium batteries.

Well actually it says something about the battery quality. Or maybe you forgot that you charged it a couple of days ago.

Are your cameras display only, or are you actually using them sometimes?

My cameras are my love and the only thing keeping me from using them daily is a fall down a flight of stairs that just about crippled me. I took them all out the other day and cleaned them all and recharged all the batteries. For the past day or so have been playing with them. A big problem is both hands pins and needles not much feeling.

Don't blame your spell checker. You spelled "batter" correctly. It doesn't know that you used the wrong word.

I wonder "y"

You left batteries in your camera for a year and a half?
You are lucky they didn't leak and destroy your stuff.

Camera's, flash units, anything that has a battery.

The raw will get you both so why also the jpg?

Because I can do what I want with the Raw file and not be afraid of losing my original image. It also gives me the ability to look over the jpeg before I process it.

Was absolutely amazed today! I decided to look over my cameras today, first time in a year and a half. I found all of my batteries needed recharging, except one, the battery in my Leica M8 was still fully charged! Says something for Leica quality.

I usually shoot to give me both a Raw and a jpeg, in color then if I want to create monochrome can use my Raw file. On my Kodak I could save as a jpeg and reduce color and get a grey scale and still retain color.

I basically used No 3 gray and toned it down with water or built it up with multiple passes.

At my studio we used the Spottone products- at the time they had the most complete sets of color dyes including some specialized pre-mixed colors for various skin tones and earth theses such a "burnt sienna, sky blue, foliage green" ect. The current lines of Marshall's retouching dyes seem to be of the same high quality but the colors are more basic, however, any color can be matched with a basic set. Successful results depend on your skill in mixing and matching colors and in the technique of building up the opacity in stages and not trying to fill in a spot or area in one pass of the brush. We retouched our color negatives with theses dyes and the fill in areas on the print when required.

Tip- Use distilled water, place the colors on a glass "palette", allow them to dry and then re-wet and mix from that pallette. Don't use "spit" or "sharpen" the brush in you mouth or lips. Some of those dyes are toxic and carcinogenic. Old retouchers have some of those bad habits and bad habits die (dye) hard and so do old retouchers.

We still have moth brands on our shelf but nowadays they are rarely used- just if we miss something on a final print on traditional paper.

Boy are you bringing back memories. I started out as a retoucher/Illustrator, using an Airbrush, but I used a lot of Spotone and spit w Red Sable brushes, still alive. Thanks for the memories.
