I love the moth but what most intrigues me are the delicate little flower spikes it is balancing on. Beautiful.

Hi and thanks for posting.

I am an amateur so you can take my comments for what they are worth. They are all nice shots and since you asked for review let me start perhaps adding to what has already been mentioned.

Not sure what lens you are using however, I would use low f-stop to blur the backgrounds unless they are important to the shot. Work on getting a nice soft creamy "bokeh" and your portraits will pop. #1 looks a bit overexposed and you may want to get a diffuser and reflector to better control the ambient lighting. This will work with the BW shots, too, and give you a more dramatic contrast.

By the way, you will need to grow two extra arms.

Cheers,
jb
Hi and thanks for posting. br br I am an amateur ... (show quote)

thank you for your help I am already learning quite a bit. I know that I will need two sets of arms ha ha but I think I really need a wagon to carry all that . Actually I am sort of a Minimalist and like to travel light ... one or two lenses at the most . I am going to give in a get a tripod though. This philosophy may not always give me the best shot ...but its what I am into right now.
;) I am sure I will change my mind a dozen times though.
Thanks for the insight and help.

The three bottom shots look good. The top one though has some issues that the pros do not like. 1st there is a lack of good catchlight in her eys. Catchlight should be at 10-2 oclock. 2nd there is a blue thing hanging off her right ear in the back ground. This is a distraction. 3rd is the shadow her eyebrows are casting on her eyes.
A beautiful child there is no doubt.
If you type in portrait photography on the net you will find abundant instructions on the subject.

They're beautiful shots. Good natural poses. As Bobbee said it would be good to also try some more natural poses.

"Girl with Blue Eyes" - stunning ! What was she crying / angry about? She has not quite gotten over it - hopefully, you were not to blame !! but, you captured it - great first impact.

Ha ha. girl with blue eyes is amazing.... she is in 4th grade. yikes right?! I had been begging her to let me take her photo and she looked me square in the eye right like that . Bam and I snapped as quick as I could. Then she hammed it up for about an hour. The other girl who was looking off did not know I was taking her photo. The second shot was when I called her name. and the girl on the beach was my kid  who is my practice person .. she gets sick of me saying... let me take your picture . Thanks for the input

Hi , I have been working at teaching myself photography for the past year. I have stumbled across this group and it seems awesome. I have been to other sites and although fun they do not offer much in the way of critique . I am desperate for some constructive advice. Lately I have been interested in taking portraits. Although I am not really interested in portrait photography but more interested in interesting faces. Here are a few that I have taken. would love some input .
Cheers and nice to meet everyone :-)
