Squirrel, i really dont see why to "get me off the hook" and gain rights to critique, i need to post some more of my work. As i already stated, i. Am proud of the first two images i posted. you don't *have* to post your work. but if you do nothing but make critical comments without proving that you know what you're talking about, to a lot of folks, you won't have any credibility. sorta like me telling Roger Federer that his backhand sucks... what qualifies me to judge his technique? no one is gonna pay attention to, or respect the opinion of, someone who offers criticism without demonstrating that they know what they're talking about.

as for your gallery, where is it?

To be honest sq, i am dying..i had a heart attack six months ago and it damaged me pretty bad..i see talent in people and i am trying to push. Life is short and i would live for more people to see the artistc side of life. It is beautiful, and every sunrise is different. All that read here...; i went off on a tear in hopes to grab a more than normal following..(for the wrong reasons).. but now that we are all here, i simply hope to leave one thought in mind. Keep photography in its artform..so many people can shoot pretty images today with advances in technology, but only the artist can mean something. This is the whole reason i came here is to hopefully pass that along.
And please check out my inspiration and truly great artist craig rhodes.

I understanlld that some art, in every form is, and can get ridiculously overpriced simply from the name
Ive seen it, but in general, the artist with the inflated name has one for a reason. I wouldn't want to strip that away by generalizing.
i want you and i to go out together on a shoot because i feel i would hain something if we did. I would appreciate ot if you critiqued my last three images.

Squirl, can i add one more train of thought? Well, you know me and i will; you mentioned lik's photo was out of focus and oversaturated. Now, i promise you that i have never seen the image before. Do you think for a second that he missed his focus? Was a mistake, and he chose to make it public anyway? How did i, within seconds identify the image that is sought after? I have been to places like this..you better get there an hour before sunrise, or you will miss the morning light as many people wait in line to set up their tripods and make this image. Same thing..over and over. Yes, very nice beautiful images, but where is the originality? , the art?..my point is simple..its simply not there. You seem bitter and dismiss famous photographers ability to capture something special to "genius self-marketing hype"..with that said, i can see that you are a very good photographer, better than me, but i sense you are bitter and need a jolt to tune back in...okay, now bash away, but my opinion was stated.(i wasnt going to say that).

Additional note, all three images above taken with minolta xd11 and 24mm rokkor. Fuji velvia 100 and kodak tri-x on #2&3. Developed by a good friend and teacher.
I am ok with them, but "bent" is better.(with the exception of #3.
maybe).

Me too, but i have to say, the reason i believe it is better is because he somehow captured something very unique..the highlight appears to be a inverse silhouette of a human with crossed arms. Seeing this, i feel that the underexposure and oversaturation completed the image...just my take on it. Never seen the image before, but i fell in love with it. And yes, i want a truce. I respect your work, and realize you havent seen miners. Anyway we see it, it is bedtime as i have to work early. Gnight sq

a little tidbit you may not know... Lik claims in his marketing hype that the "figure" in the sunbeam is the result of a freak breeze causing the dust to swirl up, as though it were some rare event that only he was able to capture. horsecrap! there's nothing unique about it! there's no breeze in that canyon... the dust in the sunbeam is there because there's a Navajo guide just out of sight behind the rocks to the left, and he throws handfuls of sand into the light! i've been there, and i know how it's done. here's another of mine... i could call it "Ghost Dancer" or some such thing, and try to pass it off as something only i was able to capture, but it still wouldn't sell for thousands of dollars, because it doesn't have Peter Lik's name on it.

g'nite.
