Larry,
Beautiful image! You got the colors of the sky and the foreground (as well as the background) perfect. Sounds like a memorable (very) early morning. With photos to keep the memory going.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you to all. Since Indoor basketball was cancelled (so far). I have not shot any games.

I will keep the notes that you all offered for next season (I hope!)

I couldn’t agree with you more! I just figured that i was not photographically savvy. I don’t want to spend 15-20 minutes on each photograph! Especially when I shoot 300-350 photos on Christmas Eve while with family.

Nice, photos. Since BB is starting again - I went back to this post and re-reviewed. I have gain some confidence this year that I am most shooting full manual or Aperture control. Most of my exposures this fall have been on the soccer fields. From Full sun to evening lights. I will try your setting that you mentioned. Thanks.

I agree with your wife. I think it is the only way that the software companies can continue keeping the revenue coming in.

However, for me, before I jumped into purchasing better post processing software (from Coral Paintshop Pro 2019), I did my research while being on a budget. I know, I know the monthly subscription for Lightroom, etc is the only way to go if you are serious about your photos. I want to pay a onetime fee and spend the next several years getting comfortable in my post processing, whether it is a quick fix or 20 minutes per photo.

I may have been hasty, but I purchased Luminar 4 at the discounted price of $64 and am very happy so-far. I have process over 1500 action photos this past month. Some quick, some not so quick. I thought I would get a one-time subscription software (with the current ability to upgrade - if desired).

Your constructive thoughts on Luminar 4 are appreciated.

Absolutely Beautiful! I was planning to shoot the moon once we get a clear night. Thanks for the specifications. I will try the same with my Canon 6D.

I would Highly recommend the 28-135mm with Image Stabilization (IS) and the Ultrasonic Motor (USM). It is an older lens but as I believe most UHH members will agree is the most bang for your buck. It is a great lens with low light and does a great job outside as well. The f-stop is the best f/3.5 but it will do a great variety of venues that you may shoot. Wildlife, scenery, children, sports, family holiday photos. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I have obtained four lens and a reducer (0.43x) in 8 months since I purchased my Canon 6D and the 28-135mm IS/USM 72mm dia is my most used and useful lens. All five attached photos (Track, night time Christmas lite house, inside the house and bright sun in Colorado) are natural light (No flash) with the same Canon lens - 28-135mm as stated above.
I wish you the best of luck - Have Fun with your hobby!

I am looking at the Canon 6D is this camera still a good deal in 2020. It will b ed nice to get some feedback from previous owners. Thank you in advance

I believe you have already made up your mind. However, I will add my brief experience with my Canon Refurbished 6D. Full shutter replacement & Firmware update. I purchased last June from my brother for $500. I have shot fireworks. Soccer (outside), Girls H.S. basketball games, indoor and outdoor scenery. It also is my 1st FF. All of my lens are used Canon lens. The most versatile lens of the all is the 28-135mm, f/3.5-5.6 72mm dia; IS USM EF. I have not needed a flash for portrait or indoor photos at all. This camera and lens combo is fantastic. I also have a pancake prime 40 f/2.8; 70-300mm; f/4-5.6; 58mm dia IS USM and finally a 85mm f/1.8 USM 58mm dia. The 85mm is my latest lens and I am still practicing to get the fast action of Basketball to repeatable quality pictures while in Full manual mode. In 7 months time I have a shutter count over 5000. The 6D has several Scene modes that you can use as you learn how to take better photos. (Portrait,Landscape, Close-up, Sports, Night Portrait, Handheld Night Scene and HDR Backlight Control. After looking at several FF cameras - I think this camera body as used is a great buy. No need to buy new. Good Luck with your decision. Hopefully I added two files that show night time fireworks and another of scenery in the daylight.

isnt it the other way around? Aperture priority you set the aperture and the camera picks any shutter speed. Use this if aperture is, you know, your priority.

Shutter priority allows you to set the shutter speed and the camera controls the aperture. Manual mode with auto iso (the best choice) you set both within reason and the camera controls the ISO.

You are correct - That is what I meant.

After reading all of the reply's and comments (Thank you all very much). I have found a slightly use Canon 85mm, f/1.8 with a standard Canon Hood and the carry bag all for $200. Hopefully I will receive it sooner than later.
I plan to start out using Aperture Priority AE and set shutter speed while allowing ISO to fluctuate. I also plan to start using RAW again to pull the most out of my Basketball shots this season.
I will put my results up hear as I make advances in this past time passion - Photography

Thank you again.

Thanks - That is encouraging. My shots are similar, with similar lighting and some blur on most. On occasion I can get a good shot. I think with all the pages of response, I have been taking notes. Thanks again.
