You say the "new" LR? Do you mean Lightroom Classic CC or are you in the Lightroom CC, not the Classic version, but the Cloud version? The Cloud version is different than the desktop Lightroom Classic CC. Classic CC still operates the same as it always has. If you need directions for that, I can post them. Check to be sure you are in the version that you want to be in.

Photoshop Lightroom v 3.2.1 cloud.

I don't have the new version installed but here is how you do them in the version before the latest:
Presets, in the Develop module, left side of screen, click the "+" by the presets dropdown.
There should be an 'import presets' option.
Deleting files, mark each file you want to delete with the 'x', when you have them all marked, do a control-backspace
and select 'delete from disc'.
Don't import duplicates: in the import module there is c check box for that.

Either I'm blind or they did change it. I tried those things and no joy.

Man....the new Lightroom isn't as flexible as the old one (or I'm just old and can't figure out how to work it) :)

1.) How do I make an "intake preset" that's applied to every image as it's sucked into LR?

2.) Is there a way to delete a bunch of images without having to hit the "yes, I really want to delete these" OK button?

3.) Is there a way to tell LR to not import suspected duplicates (like you used to be able to)?

“Welcome to the club” (tongue in cheek). Just did the same thing two weeks ago!
Already had the 28mm elmarit, 50mm summicron and 90mm summicron.
Still getting an occasional snow flurry here, see post from last Sunday-had melted by 10ish.
Please enjoy both your new shooting method and home!
Roy

Thanks very much!

Congrats - I'm sure you'll enjoy these.

Thank you I hope so!
One thing I noticed is the new Lightroom is not as customizable as the old standalone version

Enjoy Florida and keep sending up photos with your Leica...would love to see how the older models do, I would like to get one!!

Thanks!
The 262 is the "budget" Leica...no bells or whistles, no video, no live view...

A beautiful area, you're across the state from me in Spring Hill.

I moved here from Philly in Oct.2010, I grew up in Pittsburgh and lived in Cleveland for five years too. I definitely don't miss the cold and snow and sleet and freezing rain.

Howdy neighbor!

I grew up in southern California, moved to West Virginia in 2003 and for a few years loved the weather but shoveling snow is getting old hat...

I'm not in love with humidity but I do like the option of wearing shorts year 'round.

Where in Florida will you be living?

Port St. Lucie. I've visited there several times and my wifes family lives there (hence the chosen location) :)

I'm really looking forward to better weather and no snow.

Congratulations, I think you will like it. Many of us went through that conversion phase but being able to shoot as many times as you like makes it easy to fall in love with!

thanks!

Congratulations on your Leica and lenses; good choices all. My son (22) loves to shoot film, and has fantasized about owning Leica, but he's in college & broke, so he "makes do" with my F3.

Thanks!
My second favorite film camera...a Nikon (that I sold to fund the digital.)

I am in the same boat. My first "real" digital camera arrived on Monday. I bought a Canon SX 70 bridge.
Good luck!

Yeah...thanks!

Good luck to you too. I guess we all have to do what we have to do at some point.

If film were cheaper to develop and print with an outside vendor, I would have kept shooting film but I can't do the 15.00 per roll thing...it would kill me. (and not having a darkroom anymore means I won't be doing it at home either)

Well, my camera and lenses arrived finally. Whew.

I got the M262, a 90mm Elmarit, a 28mm Elmarit, and I have a 35mm Summarit coming Tuesday. That should do it for me. I really miss shooting film but it is what it is. I kept trying to think of ways that would allow me to shoot film but none were acceptable to me. I just don't like shooting film and leaving most of the process to someone else OR doing a hybrid process.

So here we are Mr. Digital again!

Don't make fun of the out of focus-ness or the mess, we are in the process of moving to FL.

I think these guys have what you are looking for if you want wet process digital prints on a small selection of paper.

However, you can get better results with pigment inkjet and baryta paper. You may want to try these guys for that:

As far as fading and ink running, this is no longer a problem. I either have the print laminated or sprayed with a coating at the print lab, or when I print at home I will use one of the roll-on Breathing Color coatings, like Timeless Print Varnish, certified 100+ year archival by the Fine Art Trade Guild. Is 100 yrs enough for you?

Thanks Gene...yes, that's good enough for me..I don't expect that many more years for me. :)

After some investigation and mulling things over...I've decided to just have AdoramaPix print when I need to. I don't want the hassle of having a photo printer at home and I've had them print things for me in the past and I've been happy with their work.

Thanks everyone.

PS: The camera should be in my sweaty little hands by tomorrow (thursday) Yay!
