I love airplanes. Always have. I spent 6 years of my life working on A-4 Skyhawks in a Marine Reserve outfit in Alameda. Then I went on to spend a year and a half working toward getting my A & P license. I eventually realized there was no money in it so I moved on but I never lost my love of them.

Your photos are great. Nice color and composition. At first I thought the yellow tail dragger was an Airknocker but then I saw the Piper logo on the side. Great stuff. If I wasn't so old I'd go get that pilot's license I couldn't afford back then. Heh.

The one with the propellers on the wing is called an aircam. It was designed to take photos from Of the Everglades for National Geographic

Thanks for telling me, all I knew was that it was really different.

We went to a fly-in at the local airport for the first time. Was surprised by how many planes there were and the variety. I know nothing about planes so these are just some that I liked.

This is a continuation of the desert sands images I posted yesterday. - I have always been fascinated by sand dunes, love their shapes and colors, and have climbed a few crests in various deserts on different continents. It is an amazing, soothing feeling to walk barefoot on the soft sand, it can be hard work also when you break into the sand with every step and have to work hard to advance. I remember one night in the Moroccan Sahara, when we rose at 4 am to hike a dune to observe a sunrise from the top: that was very easy walking as the cool night time temperatures solidified the top layer of the sand and if one threaded gingerly, one was able to walk atop without sinking into the sand.

The dunes in the Wahiba Sands desert are not very tall, but the pleasure of the contact with the sand and the visuals remain. I end this set with two sunset pictures - I have captured better sunsets in many places, but I sort of liked capturing the sun in its last moments over a "graying" sand mass.

I hope you will enjoy the pictures of this set and look forward to your comments and questions.
Best experienced in the downloads.

Like your dune series. I didn't know you could get so many different pictures of dunes.

This is a view from my back yard in Bigfork, Montana a couple evenings ago. I was just hanging out on my patio enjoying the evening and this scene materialized. I love the way the Big Sky out here is ever-changing and always interesting. Hope you enjoy!

Beautiful, wish I had your backyard!

We are in a drought here, got 2 hundreds of an inch of rain Thursday. It is forecasted to rain today about half inch but so far it has just sprinkled and the radar shows the rain coming this way Is drying up as it passes thru Vermont. Any way these pictures were taken with a 18-250 lens not the 400mm.

Very pretty, especially like 2nd one.
