No it doesn't but keep in mind that the 35mm on M43 gives narrower angle of view than a 50mm on FF. If you use the 25mm lens to get the same angle of view then you have to open up about 1 stop to get the same DOF. Again, my post is to answer the OP question whether or not it's useful I don't want to discuss.

As mentioned, the f/stop changed. Applying your formula to non equivalent FLs is just a red herring. Pure UHH.

TEAC is still making a cassette tape deck. The W-1200 for $499. Car manufacturers may make 2023 models in 2022 but I don't think they ever make 2023 models in 2024.
I seriously doubt if TEAC is actually MAKING any tape decks any more than Nikon actually MAKING any SLRs. What are they spozed to do with left overs, send them to the crusher ?

People keep saying Nikon is not making any dslr cameras anymore, but I don't remember them announcing this. (I might have missed it. The $2200 price it at least a sale. Not sure if it is permanent. It should be supported for around ten years judging by past Nikon support history. 7 years by law.

Ford, Toyota etc never announced that theyre not making any more 2023 models anymore. Sony, Teac etc never anounced that they are not making any tape decks anymore. And yes its true that Nikon never announced that they are not making any SLRs anymore. Likewise with Canon. Acoarst, announcing the obvious would only make sense if looking foolish was reliably well known to increase sales. Lacking an MBA, I can only take a wild guess on that.

If you use the same aperture, focus at same distance to have the same DOF the focal length of the crop camera is f and the focal length of the FF camera is F then
f= (F.√(crop factor))/(crop factor)

Then the f/stop must change.

Thanks for nothing. I guess you don't know either.

Those few of us who do know will not tell you cuz you are The Other, and we do not care whether you thrive or not, altho we do have our preference. Acoarst, you suspected as much but endeavored to avoid facing it, and so now youre stuck.

If the monitor characteristics were not changed between viewing the results of each camera, it doesn't matter if it is calibrated or not.
The monitor display is a constant in either case. It depends on what is sent to the monitor how it is displayed, i.e. the contents of the image file.

"Calibrated Monitor" is just one of various mantras chanted by the adherents of UHH Sacred Traditions. As with most pink noise, you must adjust to ignoring it, cuz it never really goes away.

Your definition of art is way too rigid. Of course "contracted photography" can produce art! If commissioned paintings can't be considered art the world's art collection would be a lot smaller.

The word "Art" is in the thread title, so this thread is cursed from its very outset by UHH Sacred Tradition as its practiced among The Usual Suspects.

Your project is doubley doomed, by both the infrastructure on hand and the attitude of the practitioner in charge. That is all.

I use hyper focal when I don't use the one third in rule. Now I wonder if it is good. It's always been good for me. Maybe it's only close.

Dont worry that "maybe its only close".
"Only close" is what DoF is all about.

Its about whats good enuf on either side of perfect. Despite formulae and CoC standards, "good enuf" is a subjective case-by-case call, and therefor a variable.

I started photography by taking what looked like interesting artistic photos in film.

Then I became a wedding and portrait PHOTOGRAPHER in film. Here my work started to blur into art. People never liked their photos and always wanted to look better so I had to arrange light conditions which avoided any stark looks.

After about 6 years as a wedding/portrait PHOTOGRAPHER, I was essentially burned out, and only took travel photos and photos of the kids, returning to being just a photographer.

With the advent of digital, and then increasingly complex digital editing, my photography became PHOTOGRAPHY again. And now, people look at my photos and the first thing they say after “Oh WOW!” is, “Nice Painting....Oh wait, that’s a photograph.... I wonder how he did that."

I have moved into ART. My photographs are the way I want to see the subject, not necessarily the way it is in fact. Mirrorless, focus merge, and extensive digital editing allow me to do this. And, in my mind, I became a PHOTOGRAPHER once again.

At first glance I cringed at your thread title, but on reading the post I now feel waaaaay sympatico. Ben Dare & Don Dat ;-)

Going to visit Martha's Vineyard. I am taking my small Canon 50mkll. Lens question, take the canon 50mm 1.8 lens with adapter for everywhere, everything? Or a wide angle, or a 18-150?
Thank for your help.

18-150

Insufficient budget and gear for great quality.

A home made light box and a close up dioptre lens could get you results suitable for smallish prints with the aid of some sharpening in PP.
